Welcome to this year’s Christmas Special for Music Obsessions! We will be getting right down to business as we take a look at some Christmas song covers that I’ve found were pretty decent over the past month or so.
I’m going to not go and talk too much about any of these choices and just let you all listen to it and enjoy! Today’s a day to celebrate and probably not a lot of you are sitting by the computer or looking at the phone anyways. I just wanted to share some Christmas music and take it easy!
Silent Night – Boyce Avenue
Dueling Pianos Jingle Bells – Jon McLaughlin
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas – Voiceplay
Oh Holy Night – Claire & Dave Crosby
You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch – Pentatonix
That’s it for this Music Obsession Christmas Special! Merry Christmas everyone!!
Christmas is just around the corner! I promised you all a Christmas Special. After searching up a little bit of some new covers of songs, these have been my faves! Hope you enjoy it!
Rockin’ Around the Christmas – Pentatonix
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen – Peter Hollens feat. The Hound + The Fox
Where Are You, Christmas? – Pentatonix
This Christmas – VoicePlay
And for a little random fun…
I’m keeping things short and sweet for this post. Its all about Christmas and holidays and the joy from it all!
We’re a bit of a Christmas holiday nut over here and being Canadians, we already got the whole Thanksgiving done back in October so its full steam ahead in November to start decorating for Christmas. We had about 80% of everything set up by November 20th with only just little things to do for outside decorations and garlands on ramps and whatnot. Suffice to say, Christmas decorating and Christmas music almost go hand in hand.
As usual, some Christmas and some other music obsessions to balance things out! 🙂
Cold December Night – Michael Buble
Kicking off with some Christmas music! What is Christmas without Michael Buble, right? Well, I’m a Michael Buble fan, so I guess I’m slightly biased. That also means that there will be a more traditional Christmas music a la Michael Buble style later on in this post also.
Hypnotized – Set It Off
I have no idea how I missed this song by Set It Off which was released earlier this year. I love their style a lot and this one is really no exception.
O Holy Night – Voiceplay feat Rachel Potter
Voiceplay and Rachel Potter collabs always turn out really awesome. O Holy Night is one of those songs that I remember from an elementary school recital. I can’t say its particularly a fond memory although at least it wasn’t embarrassing, just included an angel costume. Still, this rendition is fabulous.
Nobody Else – RetroVision x Raven & Kreyn
Lighthearted and fun are the only two words that I can use to describe this song. Nobody Else is what of those songs that I love for their uplifting style which makes it a great song to bring up the energy any time.
You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch – Lindsey Stirling ft. Sabrina Carpenter
Christmas classics are the most fun to watch in the holiday season. I have my faves of course. Charlie Brown Christmas, Garfield Christmas Special and of course, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I always love to hear different versions of You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch. And this one is absolutely cool.
How Long – Charlie Puth
If you asked me back in the Meghan Trainor duet days whether Charlie Puth was on my radar, I’d probably tell you no. But the last few songs that I’ve discovered with Charlie Puth has honestly been quite catchy. I’m not exactly a fan of the lyrics in this one but its a catchy beat to it that works.
All I Want For Christmas – Michael Buble
Okay..so I know my husband thinks this (and a lot of other people) that Mariah Carey is really the only one that can do this song justice however, I do think Michael Buble does a great job with it. Plus, its nice to see the Christmas music renditions he does. I don’t have it here, but go and check out a guy version of Santa Baby. Its hilarious and awesome all at the same time.
And for something a little different…
Light shows are such a staple for the winter events. Lyon had the Bandai Namco Insert Coin Lightshow that looks fantastic. It showed off Pacman, Tekken 7 and Little Nightmares which higlights both new and old titles.
This wraps up the Music Obsessions for this month & the last of 2017!
It will be back in 2018!
Another month has gone by and its been a rather fun music month over here. Maybe not quite as much as the last month since there were some great finds. However, May was pretty awesome as well. Hopping into June, we have some good music sitting around.
Let’s check it out!
Partners 拍檔 – Claire Kuo (Refresh Man Opening Theme)
Refresh Man is a Taiwanese series that I’m absolutely in love with. I was going to do the TV binge but I actually ended up starting to watch it again…so that is going to happen probably after the second viewing although I’m watching it rather leisurely. It showed me to Aaron Yan who I realized was an actor & part of a boy band that I caught on to about ten years when he first started and really liked but kind of fell of my radar when I took a break from Taiwanese series and music.
KO One – Tank (KO One Opening Theme)
The TV series that started out Aaron Yan and the boy band that he was part of, Fahrenheit, was KO One. Its this quirky fun series that I loved. It combines a lot of fantasy RPG/combat gaming things with a fun awkward humor that worked for me. I loved his character in it. I couldn’t believe that watching Refresh Man would be such a nostalgic trip back. Now, I have a few Fahrenheit tunes in my list as well as the KO One and the sequel’s theme as well. Although this wasn’t sang by Fahrenheit, Tank is a really great singer. His songs are always very powerful and a lot of fun. I’m hunting down one that I can’t remember the name of but I loved a lot. Hopefully, I’ll figure it out eventually.
Troublemaker ft Flo Rida – Olly Murs
An absolute odd bag this month. I heard this song on the radio and remembered that I used to like it. Its super catchy and even though I’m not a Flo Rida fan, I still like this song quite a bit. Its a lot of fun.
Something Just Like This – The Chainsmokers & Coldplay (Cover by VoicePlay feat. J None)
Not exactly sure what the original sounds like but I love VoicePlay. They have a great vocal balance in their group. They pull off some great acapella tunes.
There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back – Shawn Mendes (English + Spanish cover by Leroy Sanchez)
I like the Shawn Mendes original version. In fact, its been the first song in a while that I found through the radio. Shawn Mendes has been an young singer that has surprised me quite a bit in his songs and the music he makes. However, I have a soft spot for Spanish, the language in general is one that I love a lot. I still hope to get back to improving it. Either way, Leroy Sanchez is one of my new Youtube discoveries. He has a pretty good voice and his last few covers has been rather impressive. This one has been playing a lot.
That’s it for this Music Obsessions round-up! What songs have you been listening to a lot lately?
Today is a nice and relaxing Christmas so we’re going to take it super easy and have some lovely Christmas music!
I did promise it earlier this month. 😉 We all know that you have that Christmas music playing anyways, right? I’m giving you all some alternative to the radio music.
We’re taking it easy on the writing this week! What better than to move up a few days the Music Obsessions post on a relaxing Friday (maybe not so much until after work but still…)
December is usually a fantastic Christmas music post! This year, its feeling a little scarce but that’s okay, since I went all random in November. I’ll do a Christmas special Music Obsessions later on in mid-December and just let this one be actual music I’ve been listening to on repeat every single day!
Can I Get A Witness – SonReal
Dangerously – Charlie Puth
Home – Gnash (ft. Johnny Yukon)
Starboy – The Weeknd (Beatbox Cover) -KRNFX
Twenty One Pilots Mashup – Acapella ft. VoicePlay
There you go! Now I’m going to go listen to those songs again!
Happy Friday! What songs are you listening to lately?
