Music Obsessions [September 2017]

Welcome back to September’s Music Obsessions!

Its rare to have My Weekly Adventures segment precede this one back to back. With the last month’s personal life taking me for a long time emotional ride, I’ve been drowning in a lot of music. There was a splurge of going back to some of the older stuff I used to listen which is mostly Hong Kong pop from 80’s and 90’s maybe even to early 2000s. Its been a lot of variety from EDM to hip hop to just about everything, making this month a pretty hard one to narrow down. Anyways, here’s the ones I’ve been going back to a lot.

Divination – KSHMR & No Mondays

Its always nice to start off these obsessions with some electronic music. I love KSHMR. They’ve had some incredible music and its fantastic. This one is pretty good also.

Kings and Queens of Summer – Matstubs

I have this feeling that I heard this on the radio but then, I’m not so sure. However, it was an accidental find but I like the beat a lot.

飛 (Fly) – LMF

I’m almost positive that I’ve shared LMF songs some time in the past however, there was a chat recently with my Game Warp co-host that brought about a talk about hip hop music and while Hong Kong hip hop is not a popular thing as there’s only a few selected few that have done well and are actually decent, LMF is the one that I’d like to say brought this genre to Hong Kong. They aren’t together anymore but they made some great music. This one is one of my faves. Once I start, I just listen to it on repeat.

Tout laisser tomber – Raffy

The newest selection on this list goes to the new song by a Quebec artist/group called Raffy. They have very awesome and fun music. This new one is upbeat and positive and I like it a lot. It makes me happy when I listen to it. Can’t really ask for more.

I Do – Karen Mok

Karen Mok has been in some movies here and there and for those more familiar with Hong Kong movies may recognize her especially in some Stephen Chow movies. However, she is also a singer and a pretty unique one at that. I love her voice a lot. This is one of her newer tunes, I believe and the video is super cute. Its great.

Body Like A Back Road – Sam Hunt

I like Sam Hunt a lot. This song has a really nice beat. I’m not so sure about the lyrics but its a fun listen just for the music itself.

That’s it for this month’s Music Obsessions!
What have you been listening to?

Music (and Youtube) Obsessions: Music and Comedy edition

I’m going to need a new name for this segment soon.  Sure, I still use Youtube to listen to music but I don’t as much as I used to.  Between movies and blogging and everything else in between, my other part of life is watching gaming videos on Youtube and watching Youtubers with their little shenanigans that entertain me a lot.  So, I just couldn’t not share it.  Last time, I shared The Whisper Challenge which was a ton of fun. We’ll switch it up a little this time and intertwine funny vids (that I had a good laugh) and music that I keep replaying! How does that sound?

Just a note: The music will vary in genre and style.  We have some country, some latin, a cover and electronic.  As for funny clips, its mostly from two challenges over at the guys who did the first Whisper Challenge.  Its rather silly but I like it a lot.  If you didn’t like the first one, then don’t bother with it.  While I also added in videos from my favorite Hong Kong comedian since I found some videos with English subs and they are done pretty well so hopefully you’ll enjoy it! 🙂

Let’s give that a go and have some fun! 🙂

Take Your Time- Sam Hunt

I might have posted up Sam Hunt’s performance on The Ellen Show months ago but I really like this video.

It’s All About Perspective! – Dayo Wong [Stand-up Comedy]

La Mordidita – Ricky Martin feat. Yotuel

If you didn’t know, the place where I do Zumba classes had this Flash Mob thing at a shopping mall.  Unfortunately, I had plans already so I couldn’t join but I finally found the song for the routine that I love the best because of it.  Didn’t know it was Ricky Martin but its super fun.  I can’t help but do the routine when it goes on. This is officially stuck in my head!

The Whisper Challenge #2 – Markiplier, Wade (LordMinion777), Matthias & Jesse

Cheerleader – Pentatonix (cover)

I’m not a huge fan of the original of this one but Pentatonix does a great acapella version of it.  They are truly amazing!

Employees and Employers – Dayo Wong [Stand-up Comedy]

Tomorrow is Today -Jack Howes ft. J-HYPE

Finish My Sentence Challenge -Markiplier, Wade (LordMinion777), Matthias & Jesse

There’s not much else to say! Hopefully you enjoyed it, either liked the music.  I tried to keep it upbeat for the most part.  Or maybe you enjoyed the comedy and had a good laugh.  I’m sorry if it didn’t but comedy is subjective.  I always say it but I still wanted to share! 😉

Happy Friday, my lovelies! Have an awesome weekend!! 🙂
