I technically have two reviews before this that should have gone up but seeing as I really wanted to get my Paul Walker mini-marathon out of the way, I scouted out the flicks available on Netflix of his and will be doing 3 movies for the next 3 days of his. I started off with the earliest out of the three, She’s All That! I never saw this and never knew he was in that as a supporting character. Let’s check it out!

High school jock Zach Siler (Freddie Prinze Jr.) comes back from spring break being dumped by his hot girlfriend, Taylor (Jodi Lyn O’Keefe) for a TV celebrity she met in Florida, Brock Hudson (Matthew Lillard). To prove that he’s over it, his best friend Dean (Paul Walker) makes a bet with him when he claims that he can make any girl be crowned as prom queen. Dean picks Laney Boggs (Rachel Leigh Cook), a nerdy, messy art student.
Okay, when I got out of elementary school, Freddie Prinze Jr. was the guy that girls in school would screech over. I’m not exactly sure why because I never thought he was cute and maybe that’s why I never got around to seeing this until now. Either way, She’s All That is a teen romance movie through and through with all the predictable parts and not so much fun as I’d have imagined since it seemed to be a big thing back in 1999 when it first came out. I mean, its the only title I remember back then that a lot of people talked about in school.
She’s All That has a lot of charming characters. Other than Paul Walker, I haven’t really seen the other ones much so they were all pretty refreshing. I expected Freddie Prinze Jr. to be a much worse actor but he was actually pretty good: a certain boy charm to him. Rachel Leigh Cook grasped her role well enough as the introverted and protective (over herself) Laney Boggs with an independent mind. This is supposed to be a modern adaptation of My Fair Lady (which I’ve only seen a play of eons ago). Matthew Lillard as Brock Hudson was the clown and douche of the movie and he did such a great job because I laughed at the character a lot.
Now, I saved the star for the last, Paul Walker. Look at him, all young and awesome. I’m telling you right now, I thought he was the best actor in this movie. Maybe its the bias because of everything that’s happened but seriously, he played the best friend who was also such a douche. So pretty much, he was similar to a bad guy in this flick who wanted to get girls in bed and that’s all. The pretentious guys who thought they were all that; the ones I hated in school and there was part of me that did hate the character of Dean because he was such a DB. Good job, Paul Walker 🙂
The story was slightly thin. She’s All That was nothing intriguing and my goodness, it felt so long but it was just 1.5 hours long. Is that normal? It just didn’t seem like much was going on and none of the dialogue was really memorable. The cast really did the best with what they could. So, I’m sure you can find another teen movie better than this one, try Clueless and Mean Girls 🙂 I probably won’t watch this one again and I’m pretty sure Paul Walker has more memorable flicks if I were to choose to relive his movie moments again. Although, I am willing to watch some Freddie Prinze Jr. if the opportunity ever presented itself.
Now that this is out of the way, lets move on to some main roles of Paul Walker! I’m excited, aren’t you?
