Unboxing: 1UP Box [June 2015]

Welcome to another unboxing! This time around, we’re looking at the 1UP Box.

So far, this has been a mixed bag BUT it has been increasingly intriguing.  I haven’t been following the themes of the boxes so its all a complete surprise to me, which I love the spontaneity 🙂

This month’s theme: Arcade!! How awesome is that?!?!?!

Spider-Man Zipper Pull

Who is a fan of Spider-Man? I know I am, for the most part.  And zipper pulls break a lot, maybe its the cold Canada winters.  I don’t know.  Either way, I’ll find some cool use for it or I’ll just use it for the ton of bags that I own. Who knows, right? I love practical stuff and this definitely is one!

Metallic Arcade Decal

Decals! This one does look absolutely cool.  I just always wonder…at the rate we have to change our phones and our computers (because they just break faster).  I’d pretty much lose the decal if I stuck it on there.  Maybe I can just keep it as a collectible 😉

Pac-Man Candy Tin

I’m really into arcades or at least arcade games.  Pac-Man has to be one of my top favorite games.  Its funny how the simplest games can be the most addictive.  I mean, just take Agar.io right now.  A huge hit, right? If you haven’t played it, well, its pretty intense and addictive.  I try to stay away from it.  I guess another related one would be like the Candy Crush Saga phenomenon, right? Pac-Man still has a special place in my heart though.

Space Alien Lanyard

I just got a new lanyard from Grand Prix Weekend but this one is pretty awesome. It has the space aliens and “PRESS START”/”GAME OVER”/”INSERT COIN” along the side.  Totally arcade stuff, right? Looks so great!

Street Fighter Bobble Budds [Guile]

Look, this box is winning me over.  Street Fighter was so huge when I fight learned about street fighter.  Mind you, my cousin the closest to my age and lived in Montreal also at the time was a guy and he got consoles so I was knowledgeable about these combat games along with some horror and adventure ones as well. So, YAY!! 🙂

Fight Fight Revolution T-Shirt

Okay, look, this t-shirt is ALL SORTS OF AWESOME! I kind of regret putting it in my boyfriend’s size.  If you don’t remember or you are a newer follower or you just happened to drop into my blog randomly, I did this (in hindsight) pretty ridiculous and kind of meaningless but somewhat awkward and funny video on a post where I talked about my absolute love for Dance Dance Revolution.  You can find that HERE and then followed with a DDR show HERE.  I’m probably going to regret sharing this but hey, it is fun! As stupid as it all looks, it is! Add that to Street Fighter and OMG! This is so awesome! I might consider stealing this one from my boyfriend…

Overall…This was THE BEST 1UP Box so far! I mean, they’ve had some great themes but this one just was all sorts of awesome: Street Fighter, Dance Dance Revolution, Pac-Man! All of my absolutely faves!! 🙂

Right on time! Arcade Block was already there when I got home on April 30th. Perfect because I needed something to make an extremely busy month wrap up on a positive note!

Arcade Block has had some pretty awesome gear and you know what? I’m just excited! I had a really good vibe about this box!

Arcade Block, this is what I’m talking about.  Retro gaming! Pac-Man, Tetris…keep it coming! 🙂 My boyfriend and I are having a debate whether it should be our dining table decor or keep it as a collectible.  Its been a few days but still undecided…

I’ve seen these Skylanders figures in stores a lot.  I’ve never been quite sure how this works but no matter what, its pretty cool.  We’re looking into it.  For now, a spot in the display cabinet 😉

My boyfriend and I literally massively GEEKED OUT on seeing an actual CD in the Arcade Block! And it has some awesome music.  I’m not crazy, okay?  Look at it! Donkey Kong Country, Metal Gear Solid 3, Final Fantasy, Uncharted 2, Zelda, Resident Evil 5, BioShock, Chrono Cross and Castlevania.. I mean, these are some pretty big titles/franchises.  I haven’t quite finished listened to the whole CD yet but man, from what I’ve heard so far, its really amazing awesome!!! 🙂

What game has the best soundtrack for you?

I haven’t heard of Retro Magazine before but there’s some pretty fantastic content in it. I’ve only flipped through a few pages but I’ll read through it bit by bit. This one has feature on Mortal Kombat and I’m actually been watching a lot of Youtube videos on the newest one.  Its pretty fun!

This was my geek out moment.  Unfortunately, the T-shirt in Arcade Block is in my boyfriend’s size so I can’t wear it but because I loved it so much, my boyfriend decided to let me use it as PJs.  A fun fact is that I’m actually a HUGE fan of Kingdom Hearts.  I have yet to actually finish the game on Playstation.  It has nothing to do with the game being hard. I’m just really bad at gaming especially when I need to play it by myself.  Haha! But, I do have a few of the games, it just waiting for me to settle down and play it. Sounds lame but its a fact that I’ve faced.  Doesn’t stop the fact that I totally LOVE this! 🙂

Overall…

If I ever had a moment of regret or doubt for ordering the Arcade Block (and I don’t), this box would have turned that feeling right around! C’mon, I knew what everything in this was and I love it all! The next block has me even more excited actually because they just announced a gear from one of my favorite games EVER!!! I’ll reveal that next month but I promise you, its really cool! Oh, and the cool stuff doesn’t stop because I also ordered next month’s Nerd Block because it also has something fantastic in it! Seriously, I can’t wait for the next one!!!

*takes a deep breath* Okay, I’m breathing properly.  All calmed down..kind of.

Arcade Block: February Unboxing!

Welcome to another Arcade Block unboxing! No video this time (but I promise I will have one for the next one).

I actually received my Arcade Block back at my own place (which I STILL haven’t moved into) on Monday.  After I managed to hurt my knee bad enough to not walk from helping assemble an IKEA dresser on Sunday, I finally managed to move with much less pain after 4 days.  Yay! Which also means, I can now drive over and open it with my boyfriend. Double YAY!

(Sidenote: You never realize how amazing walking is until something hinders it. Cherishing life moment)

If you’re a Zelda fan, you may envy me…just saying 😉

I haven’t played much Zelda but I intend to when I save up for the 3DS that I hopefully will purchase later this year. Thats the goal at least.

3) Starfox Coffee Mug!

If there’s anything we have a lot of at our place, its mugs.  But you know what? I like this one a lot! I know nothing about Starfox but its a fox and I like foxes.  Thinking about all these mugs, I should have a mega tea party..haha! Okay, writing posts at 1am apparently makes me say silly things…and have weird ideas.

4) Zelda Map Mousepad

I know this map has a name for the place, but I can’t remember it without the info card.  Thats how much I lack knowledge of Zelda. I will use this though.  It sure beats my pile of paper.

5) Pacman Keychain (and it makes the chomping sound!)

I’m geeking out over this.  You know that high pitched voice that I made for the Tetris notebook in the last unboxing video.  Yeah, thats how I was reacting to this one 🙂 I like these retro arcade games: Tetris and Pacman being my fave.

6) Zelda T-shirt!

Apparently these Zelda products are from different games.  I knew this looked familiar but I have to confess that I had to do a little research to figure out whether this was actually Zelda.  This shirt is totally cool.  Arcade Block shirts are for my boyfriend so I’m sure he’ll enjoy wearing this one.

I have to admit that these Arcade Blocks are rather fun.  From the videos of some other surprises boxes that I haven’t subscribed to, these are really hit and miss but so far, I’m relatively impressed.  The boyfriend read somewhere that next month has two T-shirts? Wonder if thats true because those shirts probably take up about 50% of the reason I’d renew my subscription, even if I don’t wear it.
