When E3 2018 Takes Over… #E32018

Hey everyone!

The last few days have been quiet. To be honest, I’m pretty impressed that I only missed 2 days out of the tentative schedule. However, I’m working on the next few posts. Unfortunately, it probably won’t happen for today. As with the previous two years, Electronic Entertainment Expo, aka E3, is currently underway. While Game Warp doesn’t have the resources to be on site, we are covering it remotely. The event has officially kicked off to the public but the whole weekend from Saturday to Tuesday was six conferences. We did a great job because we planned ahead. I know this because I feel more alive and managed to work efficiently and we managed to work through the time zone differences to get the recaps sent to That Moment In in a timely manner. With that said, it took over that entire time frame. Its surprising that I did get some home chores and other must-dos.

After some thought, as a little bit of a transition piece before I got back to some regular programming later this evening or most probably tomorrow, I’m going to share the links to the recaps that Elwood and I worked very hard together. On top of that, I’ll share the one stand out game for myself in each conference just to add a little of my personal touch here.

Electronic Arts

For our full EA conference recap and impressions, you can find it HERE.

Microsoft Xbox

You can find the full Microsoft Xbox Briefing recap and impressions HERE.

Bethesda

Check out our recap and impressions of Bethesda Conference HERE.

Square Enix

You can check out the full recap (including of course the Kingdom Hearts III recap which I did enjoy, but these two games look great) right HERE!

Ubisoft

Now for the very awesome Ubisoft recap and impression, where I just can’t put everything I’m excited about, right HERE.

PC Gaming Show

And for the PC Gaming Show round-up HERE.

Playstation

Of course, the big show to end the main conferences is Playstation. Find the recap HERE.

Nintendo Direct

Nintendo Direct’s full recap is HERE.

Game Warp is still working on some other material for E3 so its still now done yet.
However, the conferences ending and all the recaps done means I can get back to normal programming.

TV Binges, Book Reviews and Double Features are in the horizon! 🙂

I know this isn’t normal stuff but if you check out Transference, you can see Elijah Wood’s debut game. At the same time, Joseph Gordon-Levitt also made an appearance at Ubisoft for Beyond Good and Evil 2 talking about working with them and his company, HitRecord. Lots of very cinematic games in the horizon also. Its pretty awesome!

Toronto 2018: EGLX 2018

Enthusiast Gaming Live Expo 2018, aka EGLX ran from March 9th to 11th at The International Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. Game Warp didn’t quite meet the requirements so we didn’t bother to try to get the press pass. I might have just been busy and a little lazy. Either way, its nice to get back into the gaming expo coverage gear because I didn’t realize how much I did miss it especially since while there were a few familiar faces here from Montreal, a lot of games were fresh and new. Its nice to go to these expo also with friends because it gives so much opportunity to get into multiplayer games and there were a great deal of those.

If you want to see a indie game zone coverage, its over at That Moment In here.

EGLX is quite the fantastic gaming convention. Aside from the Indie Zone. There was a ton of cool stuff to look at. It was something like a ton of fests meshed together but balanced out to be a nice glimpse into the gaming world. Its always fun to jump into this atmosphere as its like being cut from the real world for a little while. I sometimes think its why I love gaming so much. The concentration and different worlds is such a nice escape.

Furious Seas in the VR zone

There was some tech stuff from MSI and Microsoft and other hardware and other gaming-related gears. We went to try out some racing and gaming seats. Something we are definitely looking at especially myself  with my constant back issues. The effects of an office job and blogging and gaming after hours resulting in a lot of sitting time plus, my cat is destroying my current chair. Anyways, its an investment down the road. There was a lot of stuff going on that aren’t in pictures like retro zones and arcades, etc.

We wrapped up the day with the cosplay competition except this one is quite unique as its one where the contestants are groups that had a few hours with  designated materials like cardboard and whatnot to put together a costume while giving themselves a story and a special finishing move. There were four contestants and lets just say, it was pretty funny.

To see the EGLX haul, you can find here.

This wraps up the EGLX 2018 recap (as well as Toronto 2018)!

Game Warp Podcast: E3 Impressions Part 2: Playstation, PC Gaming Show & Nintendo

Part 2 of E3 Impressions are here!

This time, we talk about the last three conferences. Not a lot of people have covered the PC Gaming Show but as I am the independent games fanatic, it felt like one that I had to check out and it was well worth it to see some of the smaller games getting highlighted with a little more details from the developers themselves. In this episode, we talk about the PC Gaming Show, Playstation and we wrap up with the Nintendo Spotlight event.

Before we wrap up the episode, we discuss whether the new upcoming Nintendo Switch games has made us want to pick up the new console and which conference appealed to us the most?

Thanks for watching! Hope you enjoyed!

Which game announced are you excited for?
Are you planning on picking up a Nintendo Switch eventually (if you haven’t already)?

Daily Prompts: Normal/Might As Well Jump

Calm down! I’m not going to do anything stupid!

I will do a double feature for the Daily Prompts.  I need a little break from movie reviews today but it will resume tomorrow.  Its been a bit of the worrisome and stressful days for me and I’m thinking maybe (even more) writing will do me some good.

Daily Prompt (last week’s): Is being “normal” — whatever that means to you — a good thing, or a bad thing? Neither? Photographers, artists, poets: show us EVERYDAY.

For the photographers showing everyday, I did two challenges in the past year in regards to that.  One is a Weekly photo challenge for Everyday life back in September 2012 (click HERE to see it) and one is the phoneography challenge from earlier this year (HERE).  Both reflect my everyday normal life very much!

20130520_090056

Being “normal” is a great thing most of the time but how many of us really believe that we are?  Maybe compared to others such as friends, families, acquaintances, we may not feel normal because of our differences.  Most days, especially in movie discussions, I think I’m just plain weird.  I like weird things and feel like I have a abnormal lifestyle, especially after I had my health issues. Normal to me is the way we live life, the everybodies of the society.  We are all different but our normal is our routine.  No day is exactly the same and its the little things  you see, experience and breath and live through, big or little that make each and every day worth it and appreciated.  Living in the moment or just being grateful for what we have.  We do that when we are being normal.

Normal will seem like being average.  Is that really a bad thing though? There will always be times when reality slaps us in the face with the substantial need for certain things to progress and succeed (whatever that is) linked to money but if we had everything, then where is the satisfaction of earning your first little gadget.  I remembered saving up for my Nintendo DS Lite, my first ever console that I owned.  Its falling apart now but still I don’t want to give it up till I have to.  Treasuring what we have and not thinking about all we don’t have.

Being normal lets me enjoy my family, my loved ones, my pets, the nature every single day with a smile on my face 🙂

Dr. Seuss quote

Whats wrong with being normal? We can still be awesome in our own way and see even more wonderful things in the process plus we get to realize how lucky we are.

Tuesday’s Daily PromptWhat’s the biggest risk you’d like to take — but haven’t been able to? What would have to happen to make you comfortable taking it? Photographers, artists, poets: show us JUMP.

Risk…

I’m not really a person to associate with risk.  Thats one of the reasons I learned early on in my university that finance wasn’t really my thing so I switched out into another field in business school.  Even now, when helping manage investments, I get worried.  I like to associate life with being safe and stable.  Its the feeling of security.  Having oodles of money never really made me feel that it was going to make me feel secure, so I guess thats not it.

I’ve been talking about starting a business eventually.  Its one of my lifelong dreams to eventually be able to do that.  To take that risk at some point in my life would mean that I would have a portion of dispensable cash that I can put in.  That would possibly be the choice of the biggest risk.  At this point, its finding the business (well, I have an idea of what I want to do) and the start-up money.  However, when I do get the opportunity, starting a business is still a huge risk.  Its putting a lot of things in life on the line.  What would have to happy to make it comfortable for me to take it would be to feel confident that I could do a good job.  I know I have perseverance and I know that I will stay motivated to succeed once I step out of my comfort zone and then readapt to a new comfort zone.  Does that even make any sense?

Thats my risk that I’ve been holding back on.

dr. seuss quote think

We all can dream and one day step out to try it out when the time is right.  We all make decisions and take some sizeable amount of risks in life.  We never can see whats ahead of us and just living life and making those lifelong decisions is a risk with unknown outcomes.  Sometimes, we really might as well jump…

dr seuss weird

Talking about that, life has taken me and my boyfriend into one of those paths due to our jobs.  Let’s hope this change will be for the better.  We’re sizing up the positives and managing with what we have.  Taking it day by day! One day, we will get to where we want to be in the future as long as we work together!  Just as he has chosen to make changes and take risks to get us closer to our goals, I’m hard at work both mentally and physically to get everything together in my life.

dr seuss quotes

Great things are ahead! At least we can work as hard as we can to try to make it that way! 🙂

dr seuss guaranteed

Dr. Seuss rules! Brings me confidence and encouragement and happiness! 🙂

On the side note, does being risky make me not normal anymore? I think its normal, no? Whats “normal” to you? Whats the biggest risk you haven’t taken yet?
