Unboxing: Nerd Block June 2015 [British Invasion]

Maybe this didn’t surprise you but it sure surprised me when I walked through the door and saw this month’s Nerd Block sitting on my counter. I knew that I didn’t order it so I went to investigate.

Apparently, I’m really stupid and didn’t realize that when you order one month, it becomes recurring charge so I ended up having a payment go through for June and not realized until I got the box.  Well, that’s also because I didn’t get a payment confirmation from Nerd Block either or delivery notice which is all feeling a little weird because then I can’t even back out or know that it was a mistake.  Still, its here and I just hope that it’ll be as fulfilling to make me not regret especially when I’ve been trying to cut expenses after vacation.

Still, British Invasion is a good theme so let’s check it out! 🙂

Nerd Block [June 2015 British Invasion]

 Mr. Bean Teddy

Nerd Block

Mr. Bean is the staple of British humor or any humor.  Other than Stephen Chow for me in Hong Kong movies that made me laugh, I remember Mr. Bean being a constant in our house when I was younger.  My parents and I would sit around watching Mr. Bean whenever it was on TV. And his Teddy? That’s awesome! Just so awesome! 🙂

Doctor Who Titan Figure

Nerd Block

Maybe I shouldn’t confess it because I’ll get a lot of crap about it.  But maybe I already did last year when I posted about Comic-con.  So…I’ve never seen any Doctor Who.  Its probably a bad thing and I should ASAP.  But, I haven’t yet.  But while that is a fact, this vinyl figure looks really awesome.  Who plays the 10th Doctor Who, BTW? Anyone can help me with that?

Monty Magnets

Nerd Block

I can’t remember seeing the entire Monty Python and the Holy Grail movie.  At least I knew what it was, right? Who doesn’t need magnets, right? 😉

Whovian Art Print

Nerd Block

Sorry for the weird background leaking into this picture, especially on the top.  I was watching a Let’s Play video on Youtube when I decided to do the unboxing and propping it up on the screen was the best way to reduce glare from the light.  As previously mentioned, I know nothing about Dr. Who but this poster/art print looks absolutely fantastic, don’t you think?

Mr. Bean Bendable

Nerd Block

So okay, I love Mr. Bean and I do love toys, except I can’t quite figure out what to do with this.   But then, I guess this one could go in the display case if it stands up on its own…I’ll have to investigate it a little further.

Bored T-Shirt

Nerd Block

The card says this is from Sherlock Holmes and that was my initial thought.  I just love the T-shirts.  This one looks awesome!!

Overall, British Invasion was pretty good.  It was very Doctor Who dominant and I’m not very familiar with it but the items for that was quite good.  Mr. Bean stuff is always great.  The T-shirt just wins it completely for me 🙂 Loving it!

Due to financial situation, I’ve made sure to stop Nerd Block for next month.  Arcade Block should be in the mail soon so more unboxing posts coming up soon 🙂 If you enjoy these posts, remember to drop by again!!

What did you think this month’s Nerd Block? Any item peak your interest?

Unboxing: Nerd Block (May 2015)

All the unboxings are coming up again! Ever since I got that Nerd Block Grab Block one before, I get the newsletters for these things and although I’m not a frequent Nerd Block subscriber, I had to get this one because the key item here was My Neighbor Totoro.  If any of you  have been around here for a while, you’ll know that I LOVE Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki and possibly my favorite animation in the whole entire world has to be My Neighbor Totoro.  So I got that email and went to get it right away.  Toss the budget out of the window, who cares? Haha! I do care but the damage is not that bad so its okay 😉

Let’s open this one! Nerd Blocks and Arcade blocks don’t normally have themed months but this month they did and it was Ani-may! 😉

 Nerd Block: ANI-MAY

NERD BLOCK

My Neighbor Totoro Pins

Nerd Block

First goodie to come out of this was the reason why I ordered this block in the first place.  I was getting a little tired of pins but any gear with Totoro is a win for me.  They are absolutely adorable and it’ll probably go straight onto my duffle bag 🙂

Evangelion Manga

Nerd Block

Did I ever tell you that I used to love reading mangas? I had my Cardcaptor Sakura, Fushigi Yuugi and Imadoki phase with some of the more memorable ones that I own and still read once in a blue moon.  So here we are, I’ve heard a bit about Evangelion before so I’m pretty psyched that we FINALLY got a book in one of these blocks.  This is really cool, especially when its in ENGLISH.  They usually are just available in French back when I used to read these. I’ll do a little review on this when I finish up with this one 😉

Cowboy Bebop Brandana

Nerd Block

This item is the one which had me scratching my head a little. For one, Cowboy Bebop, never heard of it. And two, what the heck is a brandana? Apparently, its a convertible bandana and there’s like 16 different ways or something to use it.  I’m not sure what to do with it just yet.  But it could be useful… in time 😉

Attack on Titan Cinch Bag

Nerd Block

I have no idea what Attack on Titan is but the simplicity and dark green shade of this cinch bag works for me.  I can definitely use something like this.  It sure beats having to use a purse or a big messenger bag that I use for work.  It’ll have its use for sure especially when I’m going out for photo shoots or quick trips out. Plus, how nice is that design, right?

Dragonball Z Funko Pop!

Nerd Block

Dragonball Z!!! There is really no other words to describe my reaction to this! It was pretty much part of my childhood.  I don’t quite remember the names of some of the characters but it is an iconic show and probably one of the first to break into North America.  Plus, because of these mystery boxes, I’ve been really into collecting Funko Pop! figurines so double happiness!! 🙂

Gundam T-Shirt

Nerd Block

It may sound kind of crazy but my boyfriend and I both sat around trying to figure out where this was from before looking at the description card. Gundam Wing is pretty much a huge phase in anime world also.  This shirt looks really great and probably one of the more slick and serious ones.  I’m happy about this one also! 🙂

Overall, this box was really awesome! I was a little skeptical on the theme anime but it turns out I’m not so bad on this after all.  I mean, Totoro, Gundam, Dragonball Z; Funko Pop!, buttons and manga! Its absolutely cool. Maybe not enough to do a permanent Nerd Block subscription just yet but I’ll keep my eyes out for any fun themes.

Do you like anime? What mangas do/have you read? Any goodie that you like from this?

Classic Grab Block Unboxing!

After a few of these unboxing posts, there’s been pretty much two thats been a constant.  Coming from the same company that does the Arcade Block, they had the Grab Block last month which is essentially last year’s inventory blowout.  Its a little bit cheaper than the normal block and since I have been contemplating switching over to Nerd Block, which didn’t end up happening because we stuck with Arcade Block for another half a year, this was a good chance to give it a shot.

Nerd Block is cool because its superheroes and all that good stuff. But as I watch the unboxing videos for Nerd Block, its been a mixed bag for me.

I have no idea what to expect in this one so lets check it out! 🙂

Classic Grab Block

Classic Grab Block

Time to open it up!

Gremlins Plushie

Classic Grab Block

Gremlins Plushie

Every box was supposed to have either a Link Plushie (I already got one of those so I didn’t want one), a Gremlins Plushie or a Funko Pop! figure.  I wanted the figure, seeing as I already have Link.  Starting the box with this, didn’t exactly make me as happy.  I mean, I have more than enough plushies (Disney plushie collection and all), so I don’t know where to put this one. Or maybe I’ll give it away 😉

Giant Microbes

Classic Grab Block

Giant Microbes: Syphilis

So okay, I get the existence of certain plushies but umm…not really why anyone would conceptualize giant microbes.  I watched the unboxing of another (probably) Nerd Block by a Youtuber/gamer called Cartoonz and he was talking about another cute microbe that he got. Why in the world would you make an STD cute? Why? So, syphilis looks like a pink snake….I still don’t want anything to do with it.

Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure

Classic Grab Block

Scribblenauts Unmasked

Classic Grab Block

Scribblenauts Unmasked: Batman!

I haven’t exactly gotten into the Scribblenauts world yet.  I do have a game but my DS has been sitting around for the past year doing nothing but collecting dust. Well, its also because it has one hinge that was broken and seeing as this is the first console I bought with my own money, I didn’t want the actual console to die so I don’t use it. Either way, Scribbenauts Unmasked looks cool.  I was wondering what it was until my boyfriend found a tiny piece of a paper with a code to the comic. I’ll definitely be checking that out later today when I get my table and computer installed at my place. As for Batman, any form of Batman is welcomed.

Pins/Buttons (whatever you call them)

Classic Grab Block

Superhero pins

Pow Pins! I don’t think that’s what they are called but I figured that would work.  Batman, Superman, Wolverine (right?) and Spiderman!  Yay! Marvel and DC is making me just love superheroes like crazy.  Its the hype right now and I’m loving it.  My messenger bags, backpacks and camera bag is benefiting from these pins and getting all colorful and nerdy.

Elf Ears

Classic Grab Block

Elf Ears

Anyone planning on being an elf for Halloween? I’d donate these to you 😉 Not sure what else I’d do with them otherwise…

T-Shirt

Classic Grab Block

T-Shirt

Jay and Silent Bob as Batman and Robin is what I’m understanding this is.  I haven’t seen Clerks so the boyfriend enlightened me on this one.  We do own it so maybe I’ll grab that give it a watch some time.

That’s it for the Classic Grab Block goodies! 🙂

Thoughts?
