Music Obsessions – April 2021

Welcome to April’s Music Obsessions! 2021 is going by so fast mostly because I’m drowning in work that everything is just a huge crazy rush that feels some days to be so hopelessly endless. However, luckily there’s some great music to get me through it all. Plus, a lot of TV shows (survival/idol competitions shows) to get me through it all so a lot of the latest music is from there but introducing me to the originals. Let’s check it out!

辣辣辣 La La La – 熊貓堂 Produce Pandas

Nothing like a fun little song to get things going. The most unusual group of guys to join the Youth With You 3 idol survival competition would be the Produce Pandas. Its a little sad that in the first elimination that 3 of them has gone home however the preliminary show had their original song which was a lot of fun and has been circulating on my playlist for a while. I’d definitely hope that whether or not the other 2 make it that these guys can keep going in their Produce Pandas group and making some fun upbeat music.

Who is MVP 誰是MVP – 潘瑋柏 Wilber Pan

Its hard to believe that this past week celebrates Wilber Pan’s 20th anniversary since he debut in the entertainment business and has released a lot of hits, a lot of them being really catchy songs. Plus, he also was one of the few who focused primarily on rap and hip hop music as his main path. Its been a long time since I’ve heard this song but Youth With You 3 used it as a performance song and the performance itself turned out to be pretty decent as well and reviving this one on my playlist.

成全 Step aside – 林宥嘉Yoga Lin

I haven’t really listened to Yoga Lin a lot while knowing that he is quite a talented singer. Lately, its been playing as background on a Twitch streamer that I’ve been following this past while discovering this performance. The song itself has a good beat and decent lyrics. Definitely can see the talent and going to try to check out some more of his music.

We Rock – Youth With You 3 Theme Song

Suffice to say that Youth With You S3 has been a big focus on my TV binging life lately. The theme song this year is pretty great, not that the previous ones weren’t good either. The dance apparently is really hard but I’m not a dancer so what do I know. I do like this song a lot and rather fitting for the whole show.

Chuang To-Gather, Go! – Chuang 2021 Theme Song

While I haven’t been following the Produce Camp 2021/Chuang 2021 season as much other than some news or whatnot, the theme song this year is pretty good and wraps up the goal of trying to build an international idol boy group. Honestly, the international trainees is pretty good so I think that’s a pretty solid plan overall. However, I’m not here to talk about show but this song is also very good. They made it in various versions in different languages because of the different nationalities: Japanese, English, Thai and Russian.

時間都去哪兒了 Where Has Time Gone – Youth With You 3 ‘We Want’ Stage Performance

Consider this a bonus since I don’t usually put stage performances here however, I couldn’t find the original version other than on Spotify. This performance is really good though as they added in their own rap and ended the song with messages from phone conversations with their family. The song is for mothers as it talks about their sacrifices they make for their children. The trainees wrote their own rap parts to incorporate to their own stories. While the performance isn’t perfect, it is a very heartfelt performance and probably one of my faves so far.

That’s it for this Music Obsessions!

Music Obsessions: Canada 150 Special [July 2017]

Music Obsessions

And we’re in July ALREADY!

For those of you following me, I  was on vacation and was on my way back home on Canada Day! That also meant that I couldn’t celebrate Canada Day the way that everyone else was. Instead, we had the chance to enjoy Canada’s beautiful landscapes as we traveled back from New Brunswick back to Montreal. It was a fantastic few days away and now I’m more relaxed and with the next week of staycation, I’m ready to really get back into gear and maybe hopefully create some backlog. Of course, I couldn’t give up a chance for my own Canada Day post. Its a day late but Canada 150 wasn’t something to pass up on.

With that in mind, this Music Obsessions is all about Canadian music artists and some of my favorite songs from before and now. The list really does go on but I had to make choices from what popped up in my head right away.

That Don’t Impress Me Much – Shania Twain

S’il Suffisait D’Aimer – Celine Dion

I Believe in You – Michael Buble

Call Me Maybe – Carly Rae Jepsen

There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back – Shawn Mendes

What are some of you favorite Canadian artists? Which songs do you like?

Music Obsessions: Christmas Special

Today is a nice and relaxing Christmas so we’re going to take it super easy and have some lovely Christmas music!

I did promise it earlier this month. 😉 We all know that you have that Christmas music playing anyways, right? I’m giving you all some alternative to the radio music.

O Little Town of Bethlehem – Voiceplay

Baby It’s Cold Outside – Tiffany Alvord & Danny Padilla (Holiday Cover)

Keep You Warm –  Sam Tsui & Kina Grannis

And for those of you not celebrating Christmas, here’s a little extra:

Set It All Free – Sam Tsui & Madilyn Bailey

Duck Tales Theme – All-New DuckTales Cast

Thanks for stopping by! Have a beautiful and awesome day!
Merry Christmas!!!

Music Obsessions [December 2016]

We’re taking it easy on the writing this week! What better than to move up a few days the Music Obsessions post on a relaxing Friday (maybe not so much until after work but still…)

December is usually a fantastic Christmas music post! This year, its feeling a little scarce but that’s okay, since I went all random in November. I’ll do a Christmas special Music Obsessions later on in mid-December and just let this one be actual music I’ve been listening to on repeat every single day!

Can I Get A Witness – SonReal

Dangerously – Charlie Puth

Home – Gnash (ft. Johnny Yukon)

Starboy – The Weeknd (Beatbox Cover) -KRNFX

Twenty One Pilots Mashup – Acapella ft. VoicePlay

There you go! Now I’m going to go listen to those songs again!

Happy Friday!
What songs are you listening to lately?

Music Obsessions [August 2016]

Welcome to Music Obsessions! This is usually a Sunday segment. However, there’s been some pretty cool music hanging about on the top of my Youtube faves! It has actually been my constant companion as I bombarded everyone last week with Fantasia Festival film reviews and also when I was standing in line roasting under the sun.

On a side note, this week will have no film reviews to kind of recuperate a little from last week’s full week of it but we’ll be back next week with Netflix A-Z! 🙂

Let’s check out some music!!

The Fighter – Keith Urban ft. Carrie Underwood

Funny thing was that I found this song when there was that car lip sync thing with Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman a while back. Somehow, it came to my mind a few weeks ago and looked it up, since I wanted to figure out who sang it with Keith Urban. By the way, huge fan of Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood. I tell you, my tastes for music is so scattered.

Let Me Hold You (Turn Me On) – Cheat Codes & Dante Klein

I only found Cheat Codes earlier this year when there was that “Let’s Talk About Sex” song. I can’t remember what its called but it has to be in one of the previous Music Obsessions. This is another one of those styles and I just find their songs really fun.

Armageddon- Joey Dale & Ryos feat Tony Rodini

The electronic music choice which is somewhat the most upbeat of all these selections! There’s always some decent finds on Thrilling Music.

Life Afraid – Set It Off

When in doubt, look at what Set It Off has to offer! That is something I’ve learned this year. They have some really awesome songs and some are all about inspiring positivity. This one is one of those that promote a pretty awesome message. I really like Set It Off because they share a good mindset. Its always positive and fun!

Seasons – Noughts and Exes

If you missed the review I did for The Timely Blogathon over at MovieRob and Film Grimoire earlier in July for Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong, it was how I got to learn about Noughts and Exes. This song is performed in it by this band Noughts and Exes. Sadly, I already realize that they disbanded last year. I really like this song. Still, I’m glad I found it. 🙂

That’s it for this month’s Music Obsessions!
Happy Monday!

What songs have you been listening to?

Music Obsessions [April 2016]

Can you believe a month has gone by already? I always look forward to the monthly Music Obsessions! There’s always something new or old to listen to.

I have to say that this month might not be so adventurous for all of you unless you like foreign music. After that last karaoke session with my best friends, I’ve found myself falling back in love with listening to some Taiwan/Hong Kong music.  There were still some English music that I just haven’t been able to get out of my mind.  This month’s Music Obsessions will be rather a mish-mash of selections!

Also, I think this is a fixed thing now.  First Sunday of every month will be dedicated to Music Obsessions segment.  It will be a post with 5 to 6 videos (like how the last few months have been done). No more funky titles but rather just monthly issues. What do you think?

Work-Rihanna ft Drake (cover by Citizen Shade & Kurt Hugo Schneider)

I’m not much of a Rihanna fan but that’s besides the point.  I HATE the original of this song but the cover is a completely different story. Citizen Shade have amazing vocalists that just make it so much better.  In any case, I love listening to this so much!

Tao Tai Lang (淘汰郎) -Show Lo

I’m on a high after The Mermaid and it made me want to revisit Show Lo’s music.  If I could find his Taiwan TV dramas, I’d be doing that also but then, all of those are in another drive and I don’t know where I put it. This song is one I used to like and mostly because I enjoy watching the whole dancing bit. He’s know for his dancing in Taiwan, among his many talents. The song title in literal translation is like, Eliminated Guy. Something like that…

Ghostbuster (Original Mix) – CastNowski x WZRD

I’m a huge fan of house music.  Its my go-to, especially after a hard day of work or like late Friday night.  Its great for background writing music.  CastNowski is a fellow Quebecer and he followed me on Twitter and shared this link with me for this track and let me tell you, its pretty awesome! I love the beat drop at 1:12

**I can’t help but sidetrack to talk about how I’m really useless at social media and despite my best efforts to try to make use of my Twitter account…its really not doing much except for retweet all those lovely posts my awesome blogging buddies post up on their sites. I love doing that because they are awesome writers.  On that note, maybe thats what I have to do..just reach out 😉 **

Let’s continue, shall we?

你把我灌醉 (Intoxicated) – G.E.M.

One of the many discoveries from karaoke with my best friend is G.E.M.  While I’ve heard of this singer before, I’ve never paid much attention to them.  Apparently, I was wrong because she has style and talent. Its pretty amazing. Her voice has just incredible texture and range. This is a remake of a popular song back in 1990s (might be 80s, I can’t remember). I love it so much!

The next (and last) two selections are also ones I discovered when I was at karaoke because my best friend is much more updated on the world of Taiwan/Chinese music.

想你的夜 (未眠版) Miss You Tonight -關喆 Grady

如果沒有你 – 莫文蔚 Karen Mok

I know its a lot of Chinese music this time but they are melodically really nice.  I like them a lot. There is always an electronic music choice just because its a nice mood booster and well, cover and whatnot because those appear on my list.  A little change from the normal but its a good change, right?

Happy Sunday, my lovelies! Hope you enjoy!
What music have you been replaying lately?

Music Obsessions: Set It Off, R3HAB & KSHMR, Wintergatan Marble Machine!

Music Obsessions is back to normal programming!

Man, these past few months have been so hard not getting a intermission for Music Obsessions with just whatever music. There’s so much fantastic music that I’ve been listening to on repeat. And it was very much needed since real life (aka work) has gone completely out of control.  Work suddenly went abnormally busy.  Overtime and late week nights has drained me so much. Seeing as the pop music charts have been also super depressing, I’ve been resorting to my trusty Youtube list for some good music. Most of the time, it hasn’t failed me.

I’m done with writing! Enjoy and have fun!  🙂

Set it Off – The Haunting

Easily the song I’m most obsessed with on this list.  The style, the video, the attitude: I love it all so much! 🙂 Try listening (and singing super loud) to this after a long day of work, it gets all that anger out. Haha!

Karate – R3HAB & KSHMR

It seems like KSHMR just popped out of nowhere since the Tiesto collab for Secrets.  In the last few months, a few videos came out and while its rare to find electronic music with the same artist that are great consistently, KSHMR has done that. This and the one a little later in the list are two collabs with R3HAB that are fantastic with great beats!

Set It Off – Duality

I feel like Set it Off music should have a warning on it.  Beware of getting it stuck in your head for days and humming it at the weirdest times. Yeah, Duality pops in my head all the time. Same goes for Ancient History, a little later in the list also 😉

Strong – R3HAB & KSHMR

Set It Off- Ancient History

Finally for some awesome mad music scientist…

WINTERGARTEN -MARBLE MACHINE

If you head over to watch the How It Works videos, its pretty amazing.  While they think its still flawed and lots of work to improve, the concept of putting this together takes huge commitment and to actually make music out of here just blows my mind.

Happy Sunday! Hopefully you’ve all had a fantastic weekend! 🙂

Music Obsessions: Zumba Overload!

The holidays are over now and I’m heading right back into the busy times at work.  At the same time, all that food binging and vacation meant that only means that I need to get back to the healthy lifestyle.  I have to admit that I did let loose a little at the end of the year after all the getting married was gone and I didn’t have to worry about not fitting into my dresses and looking pretty for the pictures.  But, this year, I need to get back to working out regularly and hopefully, I get back not only cardio but the weight training back as well.  What better way to get me motivated to get off my behind and start working out than Zumba music, more specifically my fave songs that I’ve been acquainted with because of Zumba class.

Here are some of my faves that I love working out/dancing to in class! Hope you like it and it adds some energy to your day, just as it always puts a smile on mine 🙂

This kind of reflects how a normal Zumba session would go but the Zumba instructor usually swaps a bunch of songs around and adds and removes things every week.

La Gozadera – Gente de Zona ft Marc Anthony

Bambalam – General Degree

Caliente – Jay Santos

Adios – Ricky Martin

6AM – J Balvin & Farruko

El Perdon – Enrique Inglesias & Nicky Jam

Lento – Daniel Santacruz

I think the best thing about Zumba other than making me feel energetic and happy all the time, its about discovering that I really like Ricky Martin now.  I was never a fan of his when I was younger in his Livin’ the Vida Loca days but if I had the choice, I could fill up this list with 2 more of his songs but I wanted to keep some variety. 😉 Also, I’m not much of a Pitbull fan but although not here, one of the most fun for routines is the routine to Fireball.  On a side note, we just learned this Salsa Zumba routine and I can’t find the song but when I do, maybe I’ll put it in the next Music Obsessions 😉

Now, I just need to make sure that I follow through with the weight training portion and when winter ends in a few months, I’ll be back to running also. I’m pretty pumped up about getting back to working out and staying healthy for 2016.

Happy Sunday, my lovelies! 🙂

Music Obsessions (with a hint of bonus comedy)

I’m not sure how long Music Obsessions is going to last.  I’ve been on Youtube watching gaming videos more than I’m listening to music.  Plus, the radio has been having some pretty crappy songs on loop so I gave up on that for a little while. So this Music Obsessions, we will mess around a little and change it up with a comedy video at the end just in case music isn’t really your thing. But humor is subjective so hopefully you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.

Also, I’ll try out a new structure where I have certain categories and choose one song for it.  I might get a little sneaky and mess with this a little. Music Obsessions are about having fun so let’s just roll with it! 🙂

Electronic: Waysons – Eternal Minds

Positive: Tyler Ward – Better

Cover: Kurt Hugo Schneider & Sam Tsui – Honey I’m Good

Video Games: Craziest Zelda Piano Medley

(This is for you: Drew, V, Mikey, Mel)

Instrumental: The Piano Guys – Jurassic World Sonata

Bonus Comedy: The Whisper Challenge with Markiplier and Friends

Warning: There’s a bit of talk about NSFW stuff (you know, private parts, etc).
If you don’t like that sort of stuff, please refrain (or you could jump to the 3:39) !

And that’s it, my lovelies!

Happy SATURDAY!!! Have an awesome weekend! 🙂

Music Obsessions!

Here we are at another Music Obsessions!

I think this past 2 months have been the busiest I’ve ever had on Twitter.  I don’t quite understand how this whole following business works but somehow I gained a bunch of followers and it started with music artists and then followed with some gamers (maybe I’ll do one for that also). Man, the hidden talent is amazing so this is what this Music Obsessions is partially about! I’ll give it varied and some artists I found through some collabs with artists I already like.  Whatever the reason, they deserve more exposure 🙂

Lets check it out! Enjoy!

Also, there is no particular order, probably just how I pulled it off my YouTube list.  Just so I don’t overwhelm you, maybe I’ll do a Part 2 next week.  I mixed it up with some fast and slower songs, but every selection is some form of feel-good vibes 🙂 I do a quick recap of who and what music each of these cover and what I liked about them, if you only have time for a few and don’t like all sorts of genres.

This Too Shall Pass – Five Times August

Never Be Alone/Story of My Life (Shawn Mendes/One Direction mashup) – An Honest Year

Why Worry – Set It Off

Slow It Down – Nate Maingard

They Hunt In Packs – Amongst Thieves

Reborn – John Helios

Lets start with 6, okay? You can probably just play these while doing whatever you are doing and it won’t hinder you in any way.  I think I covered pretty much a good bit of genres.

I have some hardcore music here with Amongst Thieves.  That one took me by surprise because I usually don’t prefer that sort of music.  John Helios puts together some killer beats.  If Set It Off doesn’t put you in an amazing mood, I really don’t know what to say.  An Honest Year did an incredible fast-paced mashup of two songs that I didn’t quite like separately from the original singer/group but I really loved it in their version.  If you like guitar, thoughtful lyrics and great vocals, Nate Maingard and Five Times August is what you are looking for.

I’m definitely going to need a Part 2, just give me some time to put it together 🙂

Which one(s) did you like from this selection? What songs are you listening to on repeat?

 Happy Sunday! 🙂
