It feels like forever since I’ve done an unboxing. But its weird because the month went by really fast. Maybe its just I’ve been so focused on movie reviews that I forgot about all the other side segments that aren’t as frequent. Regardless, we’re here! I got both my blocks together. One of them is my new subscription which will show up a little later this week (hint: Friday). I really want to keep this one in the September so its truly fresh off the press here. I got it on Monday, unboxed last night and here we are with the post up for all of you lovelies! 🙂
Let’s give it a go, shall we? We were promised some pretty awesome gear so I was looking forward to it!
Arcade Block [September 2015]
1) 5″ Goomba Plush
Goomba Plush
We start this box with the first thing being a Goomba Plush. I love Mario! I just love it! Every time I get some Mario related gear I just fill up with joy! 🙂 Isn’t it uber cute! Its now situated right on my table lamp.
2) Exclusive: Springz Chicken
I’m thinking this is some Minecraft related gear. Something about chasing chickens and although I don’t play Minecraft, I kind of remember seeing chickens. Am I wrong? Either way, this is a little thing for the car dashboard or whatever surface, I guess? I’m not sure I want to add a springy chicken to anything… What about you?
3) Exclusive: Galak-Z 7″ Record
Anyone own a record player? Well, I do..kind of. At my mom’s. I don’t know what Galak-Z is but I sure want to know so I’ll try to borrow that over to my place. But, Arcade Block was extremely thorough and gave us a little card with a “sweet” deal on a turntable. I’m not even going to go surf it though because I’m not sure I’m prepared to be wowed by the prices just yet 😉
4) Exclusive: The Hero’s Shield Key Chain
Remember last block, I talked about how Zelda is going to be a big theme in this block? Well, next three items is all about it!
We start first with a beautiful key chain. And you can even use it as a pendant if you so wish. Now that is pretty nifty. Plus, the design looks really good so among all the key chains we’ve gotten from these blocks and boxes, this one really does appeal the most.
5) Exclusive: The Hero’s Triumph Canvas
Perfect timing! That was the first thought in both me and my fiance’s thoughts when we saw this. Right when we were thinking that we’ll have rather bare walls for visiting family during our wedding visits, we received a lovely canvas. I have yet to play any Zelda but this canvas looks so awesome! I love the colors and artwork. Its just awesome! 🙂
6) Exclusive: Wind Waker T-Shirt
Legend of Zelda T-Shirt is what we got this time around. I pretty much guessed this one but I have to say, the design on this one is pretty great. If you can’t see it clearly, the shirt is an indigo/light blue sort of color but I love that ship design. Its very creative! 🙂
This block was almost 85% exclusive gear. I think that might make this block rather valuable whether in collectibles or whatnot. Pretty cool, eh?
What did you think about this box? What gear do you like?
P.S. There’s also a promo card in there saying that there will be a Sci-fi Block launching in November with some Star Wars: The Force Awakens Funko Pop and a Celebrity Autograph and a little more… Usually, I don’t mention these things but that sounds pretty groovy.
These unboxing posts are turning out to be quite a hit here. That makes me happy because I also enjoying putting those together a lot!
Arcade Block has failed me rarely and this one, before we even got the box, the newsletter said that we’d get an item from Metal Gear Solid. I’m not much of a gamer because I’m really bad at games and patience kind of runs out after a while but I’ve watched the play through of MGS two or three times already. Its a long game so it kind of makes sense. We’re still working on finishing MGS 3 on PS2. At least I am and should. Anyways, that doesn’t matter but I love MGS. That’s what I’m trying to say!
I’m excited! Are you?
Plus, I had to wait a whole weekend away in Toronto before coming home to unbox this!!
Arcade Block (May 2015)
Zelda Life Jar
These Zelda items are quite plentiful but excuse me, this jar is cute. Its like a little mason jar. I don’t know what to put it in but it is adorable! 🙂
South Park figurines: The Grand Wizard (Arcade Block Exclusive)
Maybe you might judge me for not really caring about South Park all that much but in my defense, this used to air really late at night and I had strict parents so I watched like 10 minutes of one episode, I think. I know who the characters are and that’s about my extent of knowledge. South Park items aren’t really what I’m looking at, especially when I wonder if they are considered arcade items. But then, I like collectibles so yay?
Kick Punch Magnet
Mics and Playstation buttons symbols and Kick Punch…Hmmm. Not sure what this is for but its on my fridge.
Metal Gear Solid Foxhound Cap
THIS. IS. AWESOME.
That’s all I have to say!! 🙂
Blue Shell On Board Car Sign
Huge Mario fan here. I might have mentioned that a few times before. I actually looked at my boyfriend and asked if he wanted to put that in the back of his car. And he asked me back, “Are you for real?” or something along those lines. Then I kind of laughed. Maybe I’ll put it on a window in the house…Hahaha!!!
Creatures T-Shirt
My best guess on this one is that this is a Final Fantasy creature shirt. Not sure which one. The boyfriend is way more into these RPG/strategy games and has played almost all of them, tell me its from different games. I like Final Fantasy and I like pixelated things because thats kind of my time when I played games (not that I don’t like the awesome looking games now), so this shirt is awesome! My boyfriend is already wearing it on the first week of getting it so that shows that he likes it a bunch too! 🙂
Another winner box right here! Cap, Shirts, MGS, FF, Mario and that cute as a button Zelda Jar? I’m in love with it all! 🙂
What are your thoughts on it? Are you fan of Final Fantasy and/or Metal Gear Solid?
1UP Box got their act together and got back on track with April’s box and it arrived on last Thursday!
What’s even more awesome than arriving early? Its that this month’s theme is in anticipation for the opening of Avengers: Age of Ultron and themed HERO!
How many of us aren’t even a little anticipating Avengers: Age of Ultron? So this superheroes theme comes right in time!
Let’s check it out!!
Funko Pop! Captain America
I’m not exactly sure how to not geek out over this! Other than the fact that I like Captain America and its all Marvel and whatnot, its because I’ve been hoping to get an ACTUAL Funko Pop! figurine thing since I’ve been ordering these boxes. I got the weird Walking Dead one that winds up and the keychain but finally, an actual one!
I probably shouldn’t start another collection but isn’t this one just awesome!!!!
Super Key Cover: Batman
Super Key Cover: Batman
Remember how I geeked out over getting Boo in the last box. I really like this one as well. It was 50/50 that I might have gotten Superman. I’m not a huge fan of Superman so this one was perfect 🙂
Legendary Hero Necklace
Legendary Hero Necklace
This is possibly a Zelda item again. At least that was me and my boyfriend’s deduction. It does look pretty cool 🙂 I don’t think I’ll wear it ever but it might look nice as decoration or maybe just put it in my display cabinet.
Superhero Iron-On Patch
Superhero Iron-On Patch
I haven’t ironed on a patch since elementary school. That’s quite a while back. This does look incredibly nice so I’m actually thinking where I could iron it on. Probably on a messenger bag or a backpack? I don’t know yet. I’ll think about it 😉
Spiderman Air Freshener
Spiderman Air Freshener
If you sniff this stuff long enough, its going to be bad for you. This air freshener looks alright. I like Spiderman but I don’t love the smell of this air freshener so I think this might end up going into the trash soon. Its making everything in the box smell like it and I’m trying to air it all out as this goes up. I’ve been trying to figure out what the smell is. It might be a really strong citrus smell or at least its trying to be? But then, smells are pretty subjective so who knows…maybe someone else enjoyed it more than me.
1UP Exclusive T-Shirt: Mushroom-Signal
Mushroom-signal T-Shirt
This T-Shirt just won me over to think about whether I want to continue subscribing to 1UP Box for another round. Mario & Batman themed shirt! Let me go freak out with excitement first, k? Go ahead judge my life choices but 1UP Box just upped their game even more.
April 2015 1UP Box pin: HERO
And that’s a wrap for April 2015 and my 3 month subscription for 1UP Box! I’m putting some serious thought into whether to subscribe again. One of the main factors is money. I’m still human and gotta worry about the bills 😉 It also depends on the theme. Decisions, decisions…that I will ponder. We will see if I’m back for more, right?
This box (and the last one here) is all sorts of awesome! Funko Pop, Mario, Batman: all of these things win my heart over so easily! I’m pretty pleased with it all (except the air freshener).
1UP Box took a little tour around United States and took a really long time to get here. Tracking wasn’t exactly great either on the USPS site so it was just showing up points of reference that I didn’t know. Point is, right after Easter holidays, it got here. Of course, I wasn’t able to get a post up since we’ve been buried in the Fast and the Furious franchise. With Furious 7 wrapped up yesterday and today being Friday, its time for a fun mystery box unboxing day!
First one is to catch up to last month’s business with 1UP Box for March! March’s theme: Villains!
Let’s see what goodies we got this time!
I’m sorry for the low lighting…I need to find another room with better lighting to do this next time!
1UP Box
Darth Vader Card Sticker
Darth Vader Playing Card
Hmm…every box has something that is really random and I think this is the one that I started off with. Not sure what I’m going to do with this. Maybe I’ll find something to decorate with all these stickers I get from these boxes.
Jokes on You Whoopie Cushion
Whoopie Cushion
Let me ask you this: When was the last time you pranked someone with a whoopie cushion? Or got pranked? No doubt about it. Its pretty cute 🙂 Not sure if I’ll use it because I’m a pretty nice person. I can see my boyfriend pranking me with it though…
1UP Box Exclusive: Spoo-key Cover
Spoo-key Cover
I’m a massive Mario fan. I love that universe to bits. Everything is just so cute! This key cover is adorable. Not sure if I’ll use it but man, I want to though.
Pocket Pop! Keychain: Harley Quinn
Pocket POP! Keychain: Harley Quinn
I’m not going to lie! As I watch other people do unboxing on boxes I don’t get, I’m starting to really like these little POP! figurines. They look awesome! But I do have enough collections so I need to stop. This one is pretty awesome!
I’m losing adjectives…”cute” & “awesome” are the only words in today’s vocabulary apparently….
Poster: Zelda
Zelda Poster
We’ve gone through this in a previous post. I know really little on Zelda so ummm…I know someone who knows this stuff better than me (Drew? Help!). Please tell me what this is from! Its a pretty sweet looking poster. I’m going to find somewhere to hang this up.
The Legend of Greed Wallet Pouch (I think)
Don’t know what this is… Legend of Greed wallet pouch…maybe?
This is pretty cool and it feels relatively good quality so I’m guessing its a wallet pouch because it opens. The info card says nothing about it so I don’t know.
“Share a Joke” T-Shirt
T-Shirt
This T-Shirt is adorable, isn’t it? I’d definitely wear it 🙂 Its also a 1UP Box exclusive one so when I wear it, you know I order 1UP Box. YAY! 🙂 People can judge my life choices, but who cares? I think this box was immensely better than the last one.
March theme Pin
There we go! 1UP Box for March 2015! Woohoo! 🙂
Thoughts? Knowledgeable info?Which of these items do you find cool?
Last time, I posted a video of the January unboxing of Arcade Block. It had a ton of cute and fun goodies and they are now placed around my house and whatnot. While I really wanted to check out the Arcade Block, I was desperately waiting for the 1UP box to be available for shipping in Canada.
I’m new to this funky surprise box business and what I’ve learned is that they only started in September 2014 so I’m pretty glad that I signed up in late December and go the notice a few weeks ago that they had shipping to Canada starting with their February box. 1UP box is one of the more economical surprise box choices especially if you’re in the US. Canada subscription includes shipping so the higher price makes sense to me.
Long story cut short (not really) Signed up and got the box on Friday.
We’ve been in a snowstorm and whatnot for the last few days so I didn’t end up going to grab my package and open it with my boyfriend. Earlier this afternoon, we did do it. Unlike last time, we decided to do snapshots of the items instead. We’ll probably fluctuate between snapshots and videos.
I’m talking too much! Here it is! By the way, February’s theme was Apocalypse!
Mushroom sours = 100 HP for survival!
Mushroom sours
Zombie Strike Global Outbreak Stress Ball
Zombie Anti-virus Hand Sanitizer
Zelda stickers
Wind up Walking Dead Collectible: Rick
Super Cross Bros T-Shirt
1UP Box February Pin!
Here we go! February’s 1UP Box! I haven’t gotten into The Walking Dead hype so my boyfriend was more of the connoisseur here. But, I love Mario related stuff so yay the Mushroom! February was Apocalypse theme. I wonder what March’s theme will be…
As usual, it was really fun! Maybe you can tell me if you’d prefer the unboxing in a video instead. You know, vlog style? I’m going to keep doing these because I personally find it pretty fun and refreshing. Its a change of pace.
I’m going to end this here. Time to get ready to gear up for sitting in front of the TV for Oscars.
Hope you all had a lovely weekend! Stay awesome! 🙂
A lot to talk about this week. Well, kind of! Lets just get straight to the 8 little bits and pieces 😉
1) End of Fantasia Film Festival 2014
I had a blast at Fantasia Film Festival this year. After 11 movies, I learned a lot about myself and the way I understood movies and just a lot about movies and their purposes in general. If you want to check my reviews, click on the menu and Movies, Festivals, Fantasia 😉
If not, here is the list of the movies and I’ll link it to the reviews I’ve done and update as it goes!
I still have 1 movie to review for the festival. They will be going up soon!
2) Resuming workout
There is nothing to say but that I’ve really taken a LONG break from working out. I still go out to bike rides and did some jogging in between but I’m ready to get right back into it now. This week, I got in two 20 minutes yoga sessions and some other activities which I’ll talk about in a little bit later of this post! Here’s the awesome yoga sessions if you’re interested:
Starting next week, I should resume with the 4 weeks Nike Training Club program (if everything goes as planned), I might just boost up my strength with some random circuits first and start the week after!
3) Catching up with TV!
This week, I finished Season 7 of Psych. Thanks to Netflix for updating it!
Psych has its up and down moments. There are some episodes which are a bit meh. I can’t really blame it since its at season 7 now. However, compared to season 7, this totally rocked. I particularly LOVED the season 7 finale. I’m going to try to find Season 8 now since thats the final season and I hate to keep these things hanging.
I also took the time this week to catch up on True Blood. I like to watch them in bundles of episodes just so some stupid episode endings don’t bother me as much. I was about 3 episodes behind so I sat down and took care of that. Its the series finale in just a few episodes and honestly, I’m still not quite sure if I like where everything is going.
My goal this little while is to keep up with True Blood and Pretty Little Liars, so next line of business will be to catch up with the last 3 episodes of that. I will be binge watching Season 1 of Arrow right after though 😉
What series have you been watching?
4) (Kind of) Secret Weekend Getaway!
My boyfriend and I went off on a weekend getaway this past weekend. One of the reasons why I’ve been slightly quiet and well, I didn’t even bother to say anything because since we’re just a few hours up north, I had my cell that worked and its a little escape. A few of my friends knew about it and our parents but in general, its just a little bit of a breather to recharge.
We did some hiking (a part of resuming my workout) and we did some visiting in Saguenay region in Quebec. Its about a 5 hours drive or so away and we had a lot of fun. I’ll be posting about the few places we went in the next week.
As much as we love buying a house together and spending every living moment making it ours, its nice to just get away by ourselves and take a little break.
5) Lovely Surprises in the Garden
Hello raspberries! Thats right! I amped up the bottles for self-watering system in the raspberry plants and when I came back, I had some ripe raspberries waiting for me. There’s still a good bunch waiting to ripen but so far they are delicious and sweet. My mom was also a sweetheart and dropped by to help me water the plants to keep the soil wet during our very hot weekend.
I have some strawberry, yellow zucchini and tomato harvests happening and coming up.
There are few other things on my agenda for the garden:
Orange thyme harvesting and drying,
Figuring out why my basil all died and was so weak when it was alive,
Looking at the uses of lemongrass and how to harvest it,
Searching up what to do and how to harvest lemon verbena.
Plus, I have to figure out my front yard and pull out some over abundant plants and by the end of the season, shift some plants around.
Green thumbs anyone?
6) Geeking out!
Mario and Dinobot Yoshi!
While I was on the getaway, I used my ton of overtime and took Friday off. Much to my surprise, somehow this package arrived that exact day. Thank goodness, the mailman was great and put it in my mailbox. Its a tank top that I ordered from For Human Peoples and its the totally awesome crossover of Transformers and Mario. Excuse me, Dinobot Yoshi! Allow me to geek out just a little bit and tell you that I saw this and I knew that I had to own it!
*ahem* I’ve regained myself a little! Moving along…
7) Finding the Perfect Gluten-Free Article from Popsugar Fitness
Click on the image to get to the article! 🙂
Everyone read this already? So, some of you know that I’ve been trying to go gluten-free. I’m about 80% there. I’ve cut out a lot of foods including bread and I make an effort to make and buy lots of gluten-free products. Its helpful because now it opens up the options I never had when I was just dealing with lactose intolerance. Except, cutting gluten and lactose is like double hard and I absolutely hate it when people make it harder.
What really gets me all the time with any food intolerance is “just give it a bite, it won’t kill you” or “Its all your head”.
If gluten-free was me doing this just to have fun and lose weight, sure thing but its not. I truly believe that its going to make my life a lot better and reduce a lot of this recurring discomfort from IBS symptoms. Just to make things clear, its really hard to go gluten-free. Almost everything on store shelves has gluten, its really a pain so lets refrain from any comments that will just make it worse. Because no, its not in my head and no, it won’t kill me but it will put me in a state where I’d like you to kill me. You know, just to skip the disgusting details….
Rant over but that article made me laugh a little 🙂
8) Home is Where My Cat Is 😉
My Cat Taking up All the Space
My cat is a huge baby and she’s the princess of the house. She’s making a point that she’s hot and that she deserves the best spot in the house where the wind hits or the A/C. So here’s her the night before I left for my getaway and not letting me sleep. And she’s not joking, she’s in full dream mode 😉
By the way, Aeropostale actually has a shirt with “My Home Is Where My Cat Is” . Its true though. I always miss my little girl (even if she hogs the bed).
BEFORE I SAY THE GOOD NIGHTS…
Here’s a little something to help you go to sleep a la Disney style 😉
Freedom Writers is a movie I bought a few years ago out of the blue and it is one of the best finds I’ve ever had. It goes perfect for a day where I need extra motivation to finish up some leftover work on Sunday.
A while back, I had written a post about 5 Movies That Influenced Me The Most (you can read it HERE) and this one is one of them. Based on a true story and book, Freedom Writers’ Diaries, of the voluntary integration of the school system and how one teacher , Erin Gruwell (Hilary Swank) chose to not leave her class to chance. She took the time to use non-traditional teaching methods and gave them a chance to learn to express themselves through their own words and in turn learn that they can defeat their destiny and escape from gang violence from race prejudices and misconceptions of protecting their own. She taught them that they can achieve more and inspire change in their lives if they wished to. She showed them through past Holocaust issues how Hitler was compared to the current day gang and how racial issues was more than they could see.
I love this movie. Its not only a true story but it touches my heart every time. I like the concept of someone being courageous enough to inspire change and overcome personal obstacles and the norms because they learn that its doing the right thing. I always get a bit misty watching this because its full of just pure awesome moments that tugs at our heartstrings. It works just so much better because its the reality. I know that it can happen if one can take matters into their own hands.
They craft this movie to look at also different backgrounds and their characters and the family values that they lead. They also use parallels between the two that Erin Gruwell eventually employs of showing how no matter Hispanic or Asian, they both listen to the same music, have had the same incidents happen to them, but they also wear similar styles and act the same way. I think that was pretty neat. The young actors they use were brilliant. They really owned their roles, reflecting the conflicts they had and the lives they lived. The fears they had to conquer deep inside and the will to change.
Hilary Swank definitely gets a perfect on this role. She captured the interpretation of Erin Gruwell very well. She was convincing to the max. In the beginning when she finally realized the intense situation that she was in for the voluntary integration was more than she had expected and her character showed doubt. When she hit the turning point of how these kids didn’t really understand the big picture, she showed anger but determination afterwards to let them see the light at the end of the tunnel and how their actions were not as worthy as they had thought it to be. And in the end, she gave up a lot of her own personal life and challenged authorities to stick with these kids who needed her.
Touching, inspiring, uplifting are the words I’d describe it. I know its the words on the DVD cover but this movie really is amazing and awesome! I’d recommend it for sure. I tugged on my heart strings and moved me 🙂 I really don’t know how to describe it but its really an incredible movie and an amazing story. So amazing that I went and bought the book right after the first time I saw the movie back in 2009 or 2010. Check out the movie if you haven’t already! Thats essentially what I’m saying!
If you have already, tell me what you thought about it.
I haven’t met a lot of people who have seen this, so it would be nice to not have people giving me weird faces or replies…
