This Week: Music Obsessions!

I think I’m going to make this a regular segment soon! 🙂 I’m not sure how many of you enjoy it but I love sharing the music that I love!

I’ve been doing it every 2 months or so and well, these days, I’ve taken a break on TV and even slowed down a little with movies (a bit) so what do I turn to? Music!

Lets start with one that I had posted before.  This is the official video of Love Don’t Die from The Fray.

I’ve been crazy obsessed with this song.  Like, at least 8 times a day.  The video is pretty awesome with Candice Accola from Vampire Diaries and a pretty cool bar brawl.

Next up, its a little Christmas spirit with Kurt Schneider, Max Schneider and Macy Kate with their cover of Jingle Bell Rock.

I always love the whole tech videos and this year its with Samsung phones.  I never delve deep in how to make phones do all these cool things but apparently, it can do that. 🙂

I’ve been going out less for a lot of many reasons but one of them being that I need to save up money for my future. So, in the instances that I do open my tablet and dive in the Video Hub, I always land on Step Up 3D and thats when I realized that I probably should put this song on my faves in Youtube.

I love Step Up 3D because of Moose and the high energy dances.  Always picks up my mood 🙂

This next one by Daniel Powter called Cupid may have been out for a year but I only heard it on the radio this week. The lyrics are super cute and just so romantic.

Sometimes, its nice to just get all romantice and lovey-dovey.  Wait! Forget it, I’m always like that 😉

Last one is from the awesome EEG Music Hong Kong that put out a bunch (like 20+) videos of my ultimate favorite singer-actor, Nicholas Tse‘s past and present music throughout all the years! I’m going to pull out all of his albums and rip it onto my computer I think 🙂 Here’s one thats high energy and quite cool called 400 GIG!

Nicholas is total awesomeness! Thats from earlier in his career but as his music progresses and he starts doing a lot more of the production work himself, it starts getting a whole lot more original and good in its own way.  Love it!

Music and everything is fun but I’ve been hooked on watching The Ellen Show snippets on YouTube and this week, this one made me laugh so hard!

I laugh now but my Candy Crush obsession is growing as well….Plus, I never knew that Adam Levine was funny. Made my day!

I’ll be back with my personal post a bit later!

Have a good Sunday morning! 🙂

Stick with me, Positivity! We can pull through together!

Excuse the bad title!  I just didn’t want to title this post “Sh*t 2 Weeks”. I’ve been having a lot of those in 2013 and especially because I was sick and felt absolutely useless but stressed out, it felt even worse.

I’m just hoping that August is the turning point because there’s only so much positivity I have left in me before I start crashing down into some form of depression. So far, I’m still doing okay. I actually quite proud of myself about that.  The only good thing about July was vacation with my boyfriend, Fantasia Festival and spending more time than usual with my best friend.

I’ve been working on focussing on the positives so I will refrain from talking much about the negatives just at the same time of getting ridiculously sick, losing my voice and having a throbbing sore throat, some emotional roller coaster stuff happened which flipped me around.  I’m just happy thats over! I think the best possible result came out of that and I hope that it doesn’t happen again.  This week, what really got me sad and angry (in that order) was that due to a change in the electricity system and new installations in our area, with only a warning 2 months ago with no exact date, we lost power for a short while which caused my gigantic aquarium to lose power, stopped the fish pump and when we realized, it was already too late.  We have really big (10-12 inches) Koi fishes in the tank which would value about $200 each if I were to rebuy them.  Money isn’t the point though, its the energy my dad had put into them when he was alive.  Over 10 years of fish dead because of lack of common sense on the part of others.  I’m not fully blaming others because maybe if we were more attentive we might have saved them, or saved more of them. After spending the last few days cleaning up after that mess, my mom and I are still saddened by it but time will help us.  Part of it is letting go of my dad also.  We try so hard to keep things the same while moving on, but doesn’t necessarily work that way. The little reminders are slipping away…

So okay, my little ramble of bad stuff done! Lets move on to whats happened this week! Focus on positives! 🙂

My garden’s Tiger lilies finally bloomed this year! Its always been infested by lady bugs or other insects eating it away.  We finally got our beautiful flowers!

Also, these beautiful purple flowers finally bloomed as well.  After seeing everyone else in the neighborhood’s have loads of flowers, ours finally managed to start its process too 🙂 Seeing as its one of my fave colors, this always makes for a great start in my day!

Next up, near where I work, there’s a tree thats decorated full of keys with little shapes and stuff.  At a closer look, it actually has the names of the festivals and events going on this summer.  I found that quite cool!

On Thursday, the first day after my rush and the day where my coworker’s vacation starts so I had to take over some of the errands, I ran off to do just that and walked passed the press conference for the UFC fight.

I know nothing about UFC but hey, the fighters on that poster was there.  If you know more than me, tell me if it is. Although it was way too far for me to get a good picture of his face. I checked out the press conference video and learned that the guy in the suit on the left is Georges St-Pierre and on the right in the red shirt is Johny Hendricks.

If you want to see the Montreal press conference video, its HERE.  Its about 30 minutes though. If you are interested in UFC, maybe you’ll enjoy it 🙂

As I write this on Saturday  morning, I’m feeling lots of positive coming back in my mind.  I’m enjoying every moment that I can to relax! I spent a good part of the morning listening to music, reading yesterday’s blog posts from all of you and doing some sing-along with awesome music! I’m slowly practicing the Chinese music from my fave Taiwanese singer Fish Leong 🙂

And now I’ve been in love with this cover from Kurt Schneider and Max Schneider of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis‘s Can’t Hold Us. Check it out! Lets bring up the energy! 🙂

Have a great weekend! Rest up, relax and have lots of fun! 🙂

Oh right, I’m having an indecisive moment(s) these days but I have an announcement for August tomorrow (most probably)! 🙂 Drop by when you have a moment 🙂

Fun Times at the Concert!

I love music! Its part of my life.

Some time 2-3 years ago (or maybe longer) I started falling in love with YouTube independent artists.  I believe the first person to spark my attention was Sam Tsui and Kurt Hugo Schneider.  I have shared some of their music before.  Due to my vacation week and not sure when I would be home, I had to also postpone getting the tickets to their first ever concert and it was along with Alex Goot (another very awesome independent artist) and a bunch of other great groups.

Last Friday, I finally decided that this was really something I wanted to do and there were still tickets left for last night’s show! My best friend came with me.  It was great of her to do so even if she wasn’t as into this as me.  I love the atmosphere of these standing concerts where we get to really move around and have fun with the artists on stage, scream and cheer them on with everybody else in the audience and just have a whole lot of fun! I’ve been to concerts like these at Metropolis and Cafe Campus but this one was called La Tulipe and it was a pretty good venue! 🙂

Somehow, I missed part of the first group that went on and didn’t even catch their group name but they did a really good job.

The group we went in that had started playing!

After that we had a local band go on called Perfect Sideline!

There are always treasures to be found in these gigs and this group was mine! They totally rocked it and was fantastic! When they were doing the transition, I went right ahead to like them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter.  Ah..the wonders of having a smart phone, right? Do things before I forget! SCORE!

Next up, we were joined by King The Kid.  A group that I started following when they were another name, Wellington, before one of their team members left. I have been a bit slack on that so I wasn’t as up to date with their music.

However, this group is energetic and they have great band members.  Ricky plays the heck out of those drums for one!

Ricky --> is awesome on the drums and great on guitar!

I will strive to catch up with their music now! 🙂

After that, they were followed by Against the Current.  I’ve only followed this group when they do collab videos with other independent artists that I follow on YouTube.  They are pretty good as well! The lead singer is a very energetic girl and she teams up with 3 other guys to play the guitar, bass and drums (I think?)

Right when we thought the wait could be no more, FINALLY Kurt and Sam enter the stage and they start.

Sam Tsui Kurt Schneider

The crowd goes even more wild than they were before! They hit it off to heat up the whole crowd and everyone is in love with their on stage appeal and charisma.  I can tell you right now! I LOVE THESE GUYS!

Sam Tsui

I supported their Kickstarter project and I’m waiting patiently for my copy of the CD to arrive in the mail.  I hope its soon because all those videos they’ve done on the new music is fantastic and I cannot wait to hear it all! Put it in my car and just drive around singing to their awesomeness!

After waiting and waiting and waiting alongside some great music, I was ready for Alex Goot to finally makes his appearance!

Alex Goot accompanied by another awesome artist Luke Conard on guitar!

This tour is in his name and he is the highlight! He did a lot of originals from his album In the Atmosphere (which I own and put in my MP3 to listen to all the time) and he also did some great covers! My favorite is always his rendition of A Thousand Miles originally by Vanessa Carlton.  Love it!

Unfortunately, my best friend had to leave halfway through the final act with Alex Goot but I stayed to enjoy the rest of the show and then ran outside afterwards to get pictures with these talented artists 🙂

I didn’t get a picture with them mostly because I was intimidated by the constant crowd around them…I would’ve missed all the public transport to get home. Then guess who walks right out of the doors: PERFECT SIDELINE! The guys who is the keyboard and vocals and their drummer! They were so nice!

After that, Luke Conard had gotten out front also and I went to get a picture with him.  This guy is awesome! Its too bad he didn’t get to sing tonight.  He has an amazing voice!

So much fun! He actually took two shots with me.  Very awesome!

Right after, Sam Tsui emerges from the bus and I follow everyone and try to get my chance to get a picture with him.  Sam is totally cool!

After that, my final artist that I caught was Kurt Schneider! He’s super nice! I love his music and how creative he is! Love him so much! Plus, he doesn’t sing often but he has an awesome voice as well and plays tons of instruments! 🙂 My inspiration, I tell you!

Kurt Hugo Schneider!

By that time, I had wanted to wait for Alex Goot to come out but it was already 11pm and I had to walk to the subway stop which was a good 10 minutes or so away and then catch the bus to get back home!

It was an amazing and fun night! I was so hyped up and it was worth almost losing my voice!

Seriously hope that they perform in Montreal again and if they don’t, in close enough cities that I can go away for the weekend (if it lands on the weekend)! Totally worth it 🙂 Check them out on YouTube if you get a chance! They seriously are amazing artists! 🙂

I might post some of the videos from the performances after I string them together and upload it to YouTube 🙂

Have a great weekend!!
