Music Obsessions – June 2018

Music Obsessions

Welcome to the June 2018 Music Obsessions!

Its been quite the month. There’s been a whole assortment of music that I’ve been listening to. Hopefully, you will enjoy it! 🙂

Done For Me – Charlie Puth (feat. Kehlani)

Somehow Charlie Puth seems to have a formula for catchy songs. The lyrics are actually quite similar in most of the time, its about some form of unloyal woman or breakup or broken/toxic relationships. Whatever it is, with pop music, I tend to listen to it for the fun beats than for the lyrics. Done For Me is a pretty fun one. Actually, my husband and I are pretty hooked on it so what can I say? We seem to can’t break out of Charlie Puth Top 40 songs.

Give It Up – Mike Williams

Now, this new Mike Williams video and music of Give It Up is a fun one. It  has some awesome beats and really gives this fun summer vibe. There are very specific songs that have the formula to match a season and this one definitely gives off those wonderful vibes and it makes me super happy to listen to.

愛死你 Love You to Death – Karen Mok (feat Alan Kuo)

I’m positive that I’ve talked about Karen Mok before but this lady is spectacular. I mean, she’s done some great work in Stephen Chow films but her singing talent and her voice is just so unique. Hence why there are two selections here because they are two very different style. This one is hardcore and is with Alan Kuo. And the second one…

If You Love Me, Raise Your Hand – Karen Mok

The second one here is fun and jazzy, full of saxophones and positive energy. I’ve actually been singing and humming this a lot. Actually, the other day I caught myself moving along with the lyrics here which is about raising your left hand and raising your right hand and nodding. Luckily, it wasn’t somewhere public so didn’t quite make a fool out of myself.

我們的愛沒有錯 Our Love Is Never Wrong – 胡夏 Fox Hu

Talk about an accidental find. I was just looking for something, probably Leehom Wang or Karen Mok or the songs from TV series Miss Rose (which I’ll post about soon) and then ended up seeing this one. And its turned out pretty cool and has me wanting to look for this series. I actually have never watched a Chinese TV series (Taiwanese is not the same thing). They  have a lot of them on Netflix and I’m going to one day. But if you do want to get a really authentic experience, their historical TV dramas are fantastic. And I don’t like reading about history much so it shows how great its done. Anyways, this song is really great especially because it seems like it would be a sad song but they give this change in tempo after the first bit and gives a nice upbeat feeling and I guess hope for this love he is singing about.

Music Obsessions [December 2017]: Celebrating the Holidays!

music obsessions

December is finally here!

We’re a bit of a Christmas holiday nut over here and being Canadians, we already got the whole Thanksgiving done back in October so its full steam ahead in November to start decorating for Christmas. We had about 80% of everything set up by November 20th with only just little things to do for outside decorations and garlands on ramps and whatnot. Suffice to say, Christmas decorating and Christmas music almost go hand in hand.

As usual, some Christmas and some other music obsessions to balance things out! 🙂

Cold December Night – Michael Buble

Kicking off with some Christmas music! What is Christmas without Michael Buble, right? Well, I’m a Michael Buble fan, so I guess I’m slightly biased. That also means that there will be a more traditional Christmas music a la Michael Buble style later on in this post also.

Hypnotized – Set It Off

I have no idea how I missed this song by Set It Off which was released earlier this year. I love their style a lot and this one is really no exception.

O Holy Night – Voiceplay feat Rachel Potter

Voiceplay and Rachel Potter collabs always turn out really awesome. O Holy Night is one of those songs that I remember from an elementary school recital. I can’t say its particularly a fond memory although at least it wasn’t embarrassing, just included an angel costume. Still, this rendition is fabulous.

Nobody Else – RetroVision x Raven & Kreyn

Lighthearted and fun are the only two words that I can use to describe this song. Nobody Else is what of those songs that I love for their uplifting style which makes it a great song to bring up the energy any time.

You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch – Lindsey Stirling ft. Sabrina Carpenter

Christmas classics are the most fun to watch in the holiday season. I have my faves of course. Charlie Brown Christmas, Garfield Christmas Special and of course, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I always love to hear different versions of You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch. And this one is absolutely cool.

How Long – Charlie Puth

If you asked me back in the Meghan Trainor duet days whether Charlie Puth was on my radar, I’d probably tell you no. But the last few songs that I’ve discovered with Charlie Puth has honestly been quite catchy. I’m not exactly a fan of the lyrics in this one but its a catchy beat to it that works.

All I Want For Christmas – Michael Buble

Okay..so I know my husband thinks this (and a lot of other people) that Mariah Carey is really the only one that can do this song justice however, I do think Michael Buble does a great job with it. Plus, its nice to see the Christmas music renditions he does. I don’t have it here, but go and check out a guy version of Santa Baby. Its hilarious and awesome all at the same time.

And for something a little different…

Light shows are such a staple for the winter events. Lyon had the Bandai Namco Insert Coin Lightshow that looks fantastic. It showed off Pacman, Tekken 7 and Little Nightmares which higlights both new and old titles.

This wraps up the Music Obsessions for this month & the last of 2017!
It will be back in 2018!

Music Obsessions [May 2017]

Another month has passed us by! We’re almost at the halfway mark of the year! Wow!

Seeing as I’ve been busy, music has been my constant companion and surprisingly, this is when I found all kinds of really fantastic tunes that has been keeping me very upbeat and motivated and on the more tired days, given me energy. They are rather random choices so hope you enjoy!

Blind Heart – CAZZETTE ft Terri B!

By far, one of my favorite finds this past week. CAZZETTE has made some really great music and this one is definitely one I love a whole lot.

Ev’rybody Wants To Be A Cat (‘The Aristocats) – Charles Perry

The AristoCats is my favorite Disney movie. Perhaps its because I love cats a lot but then its just because I love the songs and everything. Its adorable and fun and super lighthearted. Plus, Everybody Wants To Be A Cat gets stuck in my head and makes me pretty happy most of the day afterwards. I never knew about this 2015 We Love Disney soundtrack with Disney songs sang by more popular artists. I honestly like this one a lot.

Still Feel Like A Man  – John Mayer

I’ve never heard much of John Mayer. Or I have but never quite acknowledged it but somehow I was reading something and landed on watching this one. I have to admit that other than the video being really fun to watch, the song is pretty catchy as well. John Mayer has a lot of charm but something about adding in dancing pandas and some quirky choreography works for me. At least it makes me so very happy to watch and incredibly pleasing to listen to.

Confessions nocturnes – Diam’s feat Vitaa

I may have shared this one before in some other segment over the last few years but I come back to listening to this song every once in a while. I like songs that have this conversation style to it while telling a story. I personally find this one pretty catchy but my husband disagree.

Attention – Charlie Puth

Not exactly a Charlie Puth fan. I’m really indifferent about him however, somehow I landed on this new song and its pretty good. I just know that if this reaches the radio, and after listening to it a billion times, it might get old. For not, the tune is pretty cool.

It’s Gonna Be Me – N’Sync

I do have to be honest that the radio has a way of putting on good music every once in a while when they dive into the 90’s and while it makes me happy to listen to Backstreet Boys, I’ve probably mentioned before that I’m a N’Sync girl so it always makes me happy when that pops up. This past while, It’s Gonna Be Me has been popping up quite a bit. So yeah, added that also to my playlist.

What songs/music do you listen to to keep you motivated and/or energized?

Music Obsessions [December 2016]

We’re taking it easy on the writing this week! What better than to move up a few days the Music Obsessions post on a relaxing Friday (maybe not so much until after work but still…)

December is usually a fantastic Christmas music post! This year, its feeling a little scarce but that’s okay, since I went all random in November. I’ll do a Christmas special Music Obsessions later on in mid-December and just let this one be actual music I’ve been listening to on repeat every single day!

Can I Get A Witness – SonReal

Dangerously – Charlie Puth

Home – Gnash (ft. Johnny Yukon)

Starboy – The Weeknd (Beatbox Cover) -KRNFX

Twenty One Pilots Mashup – Acapella ft. VoicePlay

There you go! Now I’m going to go listen to those songs again!

Happy Friday!
