My November Adventures

November was a bit of a mess of a month. I was close to a burn-out after back to back film festival coverages and its why it took a while to wrap up the remaining films for those festivals. Luckily, that’s all done. With work also being an explosion of work, its been quite the crazy ride. I don’t foresee December being a lot better but at least, the slowed down posting schedule got my focus back on writing posts. With that said, not a really exciting month overall but still a few things to talk about plus at the end, there’s some December plans.

Not talking about any new projects until December’s wrap-up or January’s beginning of the year post as I have some final decisions to make on some possible changes or a new project/segment.

Blood in the Snow Festival

The ranking for the feature films (with the except of one Parallel Minds that I didn’t see):

  1. Come True (Review)
  2. For The Sake of Vicious (Review)
  3. Anything For Jackson (Review)
  4. The Return (Review)
  5. Hall (Review)
  6. Bloodthirsty (Review)
  7. Bleed With Me (Review)
  8. Shall We Play? (Review)

Overall, Blood in the Snow Festival was a good one. There were some really fun discoveries and some good direction on the stories that were being told. All the reviews for the feature films are up. I usually do something for short films but it already took so long to get this batch done that I haven’t had time to do that. I might still go back and highlight a few that I thought were rather unique and entertaining.

New Restaurant

New restaurant opened up yet and its a Hong Kong style noodle shop who has both curries but even more for the fish soup base that they have for their noodle soup. The noodle soup is ordered similar to what you’d do for Japanese ramen where you get to pick the base, the type of noodle and then 2 toppings. The soup itself actually has quite a bit of extra ingredients added in. I had the combo which included a drink and mine was the lemon ribena which is something very much part of the Hong Kong landscape. Can’t go back to visit in this current landscape but at least there’s food to make me feel more connected, right?

New Spices & Masks

The husband had some company coupon codes sort of deal so we went ahead and took a look at the catalogue. I have some fun candles on the way that didn’t make it on this post but we ordered the spices kit from Gourmet Inspirations. So far, we’ve only tried the Veggie Fusion which adds a nice kick to the veggies.

As for the masks, the Instagram posts says it all. I’ve tried a few companies that make masks and Hop La Gogosses is by far my favorite so I’ve returned a few times. Not to mention, they are close so when I have time, I usually try to do a pick-up instead of getting it delivered. They have these custom ones so you get to choose the front and back from a range of choices.

Black Friday Haul

  • Best Buy: Chromecast
  • Google Play: The Almost Gone, Very Little Nightmares
  • Cineplex: Rental: Guns Akimbo
  • Steam: Gnog, Jenny LeClue Detectivu, Celeste, Transference, Sea of Solitude, The Missing: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories
  • Xbox Ultimate Game Pass

Black Friday has pretty much mostly been an online deal even before the whole pandemic landscape so seeing as I did overall spend less this year, I ended up picking up on some of the sweet deals online for games and such. The only physical item I got was a new Chromecast. Our old Chromecast was starting really casting some things really well and was starting to get a little tempermental so we changed it and it seems to work better.

Everything else was mostly gaming related. Xbox Ultimate Game Pass for PC was dropped to $1/month and that’s great since I had a few games to catch up on so my next month of gaming is pretty much sort out since when I cut my subscription 2 months ago, I still had a few games that I hadn’t tried out yet.

As for Cineplex, there was some good rentals but the one that I’ve been meaning to watch is Guns Akimbo so that’s going to be done soon.

Christmas Marathon & Upcoming Plans

End of November means that its time to welcome in the Christmas Marathon! Christmas movies have been fairly slim pickings but thanks to Netflix releasing an immense amount of Christmas movies (whether good or bad), there’s a little more selection. Hopefully enough to fill out these few weeks leading to Christmas. It should start tomorrow December 1st if all things go well.

A quick mention on December plans while we’re at it. I’m trying to work out all the backlog and releasing some more current release stuff, mostly TV (Netflix and Chinese Drama TV binges). I’m going to blend it all in this month while catching up with some 2020 TV series that I’ve missed or didn’t finish. Fingers crossed that I can work on as much as possible.

That’s it November Adventures!
Nothing too exciting and just a lot of spending overall.
What have you been up to?

My November Adventures!

November is here and gone! Compared to the crazy October, its much calmer, especially since this year I didn’t even think about NaNoWriMo at all. Its the first year in a long time that I haven’t done it (although last year I didn’t finish it). Either way, there are a few plans scheduled in and a remote coverage for a film festival and well, just preparing for December and other little tidbits.

Let’s check it out!

MTL a Table: Rose Ross

20191102_183601.jpg

Coregone, carrot mousseline, beluga lentilles, fennel and basil

First to kick off November is our first spot to check out for MTL a Table. This time was a more half the gang deal as it only appealed to ourselves and Phoebe and her family. Rose Ross is located in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and Rosemont in the Promenade Masson and serves French cuisine but with a lot of the local ingredients available to them. It also has some vegetarian options and even had lactose-free dessert which always wins my heart over. The menu also had an Aeroplan privilege exclusive which was fun. The full recap of the meal is HERE.

MTL a Table: La Classe

La Classe

The second restaurant that the group (except my husband who had to work) went to was La Classe, a restaurant in College Lasalle with their students taking up the various tasks from host to servers to kitchen. Its one that we’ve been to before however they had changed their name this year to La Classe. The food here is always pretty good and its pricing is incredibly worth it for its quality and for French fine dining. You can check out the recap of the meal HERE.

MTL a Table: Taboo Cuisine Rebelle

20191109_185257.jpg

Salmon gravlax marinated in lemongrass and ginger oil, Asian sauce, wasabi, pomegrenate, fried capers, shoots

The last restaurant in the MTL a Table this year is a new find for the majority of us which turned out to be fairly disappointing. Its pretty much North American food in a lounge setting with a very prominent small finger foods and drinks. Its price point outside of the MTL a table was pretty high as we looked at their menus so MTL a Table gives a general experience of it. There was a lot left to be desired. You can check out the recap HERE.

The First Snowstorm of the season

20191112_080316.jpg

Coinciding with our week off from work, a lovely little staycation, much overdue for myself was the first snowstorm of this winter, well, late autumn to be accurate which brought in about 15cm of snow. Some neighbors told us about how most snow removal service contracts only started on November 15th, which this storm hit November 12th so some companies didn’t come around to remove snow, causing quite a few headaches. Luckily, while the storm did knock some of our road trip plans out, it did let us take our time with shovelling the snow, although we still did it in relatively one go in the morning.

Staycation Day Trip: Ottawa & Shopping Haul

Disney Store Ottawa

Disney: Christmas Eeyore

LCBO Rideau Center

LCBO

T&T Supermarket Ottawa

T&T Supermarket (without hot/cooked food)

Other than the shopping haul and just taking a moment out of town, we went to eat at Fatboys Southern Smokehouse. You can find the recap HERE.

An Afternoon with My Battle of Ingredient Co-Host

Kumamoto

PresoTea

The week of staycation is almost at an end and what vacation would it be without running an errand to the dentist to pick up (very expensive and makes me thankful for benefits) Night Guard and the much more exciting hangout for my good friend and Battle of Ingredients co-host for a lunch at Kumamoto and an afternoon tea at Presotea after she helped me out a great deal with something I’ve been meaning to do for a while (but needed a kick in the pants to do).

MEGA Expo

MEGA MIGS Festival 2019

Finally, to wrap up the staycation week once and for all was heading out to check out MEGA Expo which was held at Le Grand Quai, which is so new that I have never been in before. The venue was nice and we saw some nice games. The recap should be over at Game Warp..but it isn’t because I’ve just been hitting a writing slump and busy with work…Its still happening because there’s so many games that I really want to talk about.

Blood in the Snow Festival 2019

Blood in the Snow Festival took place on November 21 to 26 in Toronto. Of course, I didn’t have time to go but I was lucky enough to get remote coverage and it had almost all the movies available to review. Its a short festival but one that highlights a lot of Canadian genre films and while it had some meh films, there was still a lot to love and some really great stories and premise. The reviews should all be up on the BITS 2019 tab HERE. But as usual, I will do a top 3 (since there was only 8 full feature films).

Black Friday – Shopping Haul

20191130_082941.jpg

I actually didn’t think about Black Friday until it was literally the week of as the flyers started coming in. Its been a goal to spend less so I’ve decreased a lot of expenses. With that said, I did take a look at the sales and got a little something here and there. Not a whole lot of physical shopping as I was stuck at work rushing a deadline but here’s the general list.

Amazon

  • Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
  • Crawl
  • Greenies Dental Treats (for cats)
  • Car phone holder

Steam

  • Blackwood Crossing
  • Batman: The Enemy Within
  • Yoku’s Island Express

Playstation Store

  • Spider-Man
  • Days Gone
  • God of War

Michael’s (shown above): Wreath and Wreath supplies

Decathlon: Water Pouch (for backpack)

That’s it for this November adventures!
A lot more packed than I expected but it had to do with the last minute vacation.

My Weekly Adventures: Christmas Is Just Around the Corner

November has come to an end. That was a quick and really busy month. Suffice to say, some projects and goals and that endless to-do list had its ups and downs. Its just how it is. The first part is accepting and being okay with it all. Not to mention, everything in general was kind of overwhelming so mentally, not in such a great spot. Its probably telling me something but I’m not going to discuss that because there are a lot of things on my mind right now as 2018 heads into its last month and I’m thinking a lot about 2019.

Blood in the Snow Festival (BITS 2018)

BITS 2018

First time tackling remote coverage is definitely a pretty good experience. Unlike physically being at the festival, remote coverage is all about time management and working with embargos and getting things done in a timely fashion because there is nothing pushing physically to be done and its all more superficial. Blog technicalities aside, its also the first time working on Blood in the Snow Festival and it had a lot of interesting and intriguing movies to offer. Nothing that was disappointing but some were average and some were amazing. It had different genres and covered Canadian films which I love to dive into. Its only a few days long which is a much lighter festival but its a pity to not be on the spot to see all the industry panels and everything they have to offer. The variety of content alone makes it an interesting one to be present in person for.

With that said, all the movies have been reviewed:

With that said, a festival page under movies for Blood in the Snow Festival has been created now so you can find all the reviews HERE.

Black Friday

Black Friday was pretty calm this year. I didn’t go out with a huge intention of spending a lot so I found some deals that I thought were worth it to fill some of the needs and stuff. A few purchases were surprises but nothing that broke the piggy bank too much.

You can see the haul post HERE.

Christmas Decorations

Christmas is in full effect at our house. I only showed the new little bits of our place and the Christmas tree. I might have a little Christmas decorations thing in December but then its not a big change anyways.

NaNoWriMo

The week after I decided to do NaNoWriMo, things pretty much went downhill. After BITS 2018 came onto my radar and work got hectic and whatnot, that was it. I never expected to finish it in the first place but I had to put it aside if I wanted to at least have some normal sleeping schedule. Either way, I might actually work on that during the year afterwards. I have some nice ideas for my fanfic. I’ve never written one and sponataneity wasn’t really working. Either way, not feeling too bad about it. Something had to be give and this was the choice I had to make.

Next year though, I do want to get back to it and get some planning done beforehand.

Announcement: Christmas/Holiday Marathon

We head into December tomorrow. Like the last few years, I’m going to be doing a little holidays and Christmas marathon of sorts. I’m going to see if I can find some holiday themed books to end the year while probably go through some films on Netflix. Its slim pickings and mostly Hallmark type films but I’ll make do with what I can. This will be the official announcement for the marathon.

Some titles  considered right now:

  • The Princess Switch
  • The Holiday Calendar
  • Bad Santa
  • The Night Before
  • A Christmas Prince 2 (I saw that its supposed to be released in December)
  • Nailed It! Holiday (also coming out in December)
  • The Christmas Chronicles
  • El Camino Christmas

Thats it for this Weekly Adventures!
What have you been up to?

Black Friday Haul

Its kind of tradition now to share some of my hauls. To be honest, this year I went into Black Friday with only one specific thing in my mind and it was to get necessities. Of course, what I think and what I end up doing is completely different but I’d like to think that I kept to my budget fairly well. Its been a tough year but we’re working through stuff. Consider this my annual retail therapy as early this year, I cut that part of my lifestyle out. Its been an uphill climb but I’ve been pretty good about it.

Either way, enough about my mini reality check! Let’s check out what I managed to pick up.

Dynamite – Pants

Dynamite

Let’s get priorities out of the way first. I kid you not that I haven’t bought new pants for at least 3 to 4 years. I have proof on this blog because I talked about buying my previous pants and leggings in another haul, possibly Black Friday also. I also happen to not have a ton of pants so I honestly have been needing to get new pants so here we are, Dynamite Clothing is my go-to place for work clothes mostly and they had a 40% sale and free shipping online so I bought 2 pairs of the same design but different colors.

Zulily – Clothes and Accessories

Zulily

In the same desperate situation for myself is getting some new clothes suitable for work. I bought 2 shirts (suitable for winter) for myself, 1 zip-up hoodie for my husband and a new pair of mittens. For those unfamiliar with Zulily, there is never ever free shipping because of whatever rules and such. I’m not sure if its a Canada thing and the duties that has to be paid. Either way, free shipping was available for any orders over $49 which is easily achievable on Zulily so yay, free shipping and handling. The order is taking a while to get there so I have nothing to show for those purchases.

Cineplex – $1 Movie Rentals

  • Ready Player One
  • John Wick: Chapter 2

I have completely stopped buying movies unless I know that I’ll rewatch it at some point. With that said, my main source of films are now Netflix or $1 rentals. The $1 rental choices on Cineplex vary quite a bit but with a little bit of patience, just like this Black Friday deals, I managed to rent  two films I’ve wanted to see this year. Pretty excited about that. I’ve heard good things about both of these films so they will have to be watched before the end of the year.

Michael’s – Christmas Decorations and Frames

The original plan for Michael’s was to just get the frames. It was buy one, get one free, which works well. Not quite last year’s Boxing Day sale but we had an art that we bought from this year’s Montreal Comiccon that we wanted to frame for Christmas so I bought two. Michael’s is my death especially when they have the 60% off sale. Either way, I tried to reel in my crazy and bought these new decorations for the tree and floral. The picture doesn’t do justice to the fake poinsettia decoration because it is just gorgeous.

David’s Tea – Tea

sticky rice oolong

David’s Tea

  • Sticky Rice Oolong

I love a lot of green teas. Dragonwell is possibly absolute favorite one. However, the year before I found Sticky Rice Oolong at David’s Tea, just before it was taken off because I never found it again. This tea is divine. I mean, it is divine and that probably has to do with the fact that I love sticky rice. So when I saw that they had it as online exclusive and there was the cyber monday sale, I was in. Even if it wasn’t originally intended and I have more than enough tea at home to get through. Let’s just hope it wasn’t fake hope and it turns out they don’t have stock. I’m having that fear as I wait for it to arrive.

Games

  • The Room: Old Sins (Google Play)
  • She Remembered Caterpillars (Steam)
  • Life is Strange: Before the Storm – DLC Episode (Steam)

The original plan was to not get any games but some of the games or DLC episode was one that I hadn’t seen on such a discount ever so I decided to pick it up. It honestly cost like $10 all three together so I’m pretty happy with these purchases. Plus, a dive back into Life is Strange: Before the Storm to round out that playthrough and The Room is incredibly overdue.

My Weekly Adventures #55

The last two weeks of November has been somewhat of a whirlwind. I’ve talked about catching up with a lot of stuff and posts unfortunately, it hasn’t quite worked exactly as I had planned but I’m working hard through it. Regardless of that, there was some fun times even though I’ve covered most of it in other posts.

Montreal Expo Gaming Arcade 2017

MEGA MTL

MEGA Montreal happened on the November 18th and 19th. It I did a quick recap about it while linking back to the huge recap that I did for the Montreal Independent Games Festival which was held in collaboration with each other. Suffice to say that it was fun. We do hit a lot of the gaming events but this event usually has the most games. While I only saw 40, apparently there was over 50 games. I read that in an article afterwards from the festival.

Kinto Ramen & Sugar Marmalade

Last Friday was a busy day. My friends and I met up after work to go grab some ramen in celebration for the cold weather. Soup-based noodles are the best for getting ready for any cold weather. We went to Kinton Ramen which I have written about before HERE. It was delicious although we had quite a wait and ended up being seated at the bar which was nice because you get to watch the kitchen in action.

Afterwards, we went across the street to Sugar Marmalade which is a Chinese dessert place that finally opened in Montreal a few months ago and has incredible line-ups. The line-up did help us digest the dinner so it all worked out. I’ll be posting about that soon.

Black Friday

If you missed my Black Friday Haul post, you can find it right HERE.

You will also find that I forgot to add my David’s Tea buy. I usually pick up Dragonwell tea however, to be honest, I’m more of a fan of Emperor’s Cloud and Mist at Teavana. Its the green tea they serve at Starbucks pretty much. My absolute fave even before Teavana got bought by Starbucks. Regardless of that, David’s Tea had a cool promotion which ended up to be that I picked up like 10g of an extra tea and ended up making my purchase less than when I bought two. Thanks to the customer rep for sharing with me that info. Its very nice. These are all new teas for myself. I have had Butterfly Jasmine before in another independent tea store when I was on vacation and liked it.

Christmas Decoration Begins

Since the weekend of November 18th, I’ve been getting together the Christmas decor in the house. I got the flowers in the vases done (fake flower displays) and centerpieces. I did a brand new wreath right here (which has been modified since this initial design) and the Christmas tree is up. However, we’re just a little way from the finish line to fix up the bannisters. I’ll have a Christmas decoration post coming very very soon!

Healthy Lifestyle Take…

I don’t know what take it is now. Since the 2014 surge of crazy where I managed to work out a ton and get in a really nice routine and then got hit with some ridiculous eye infections, I never got back on track. Maybe I did for the summer before I got married but then I fell out of it again. This year has been really bad and the last two months have really taken a hit of just all kinds of crazy which has affected how I feel a lot so I’m changing it up. I started up my Nike Training Club app and put in a 4 week program to get back into the training mode. I only missed 2 workouts so far with the final workout coming up today to wrap up the 4 weeks. Then I’ll be starting up the 6 weeks one. Its going to overlap the holidays but I’m sure I can shift the schedule around as this one is pretty flexible especially with their latest updates on the app, its polished it up quite a bit.

Indoor Container Update

A surprise gardening update! It was a last minute thing that I thought about this one. When I was closing the garden back in October, I ended up trying a second time to grow the pineapple sage in water and after doing a ton of research on what to use which they suggest tinted mason jars, I used my extra purple tinted jars leftover from my wedding centerpiece materials to get it going. It is doing great as it sprouts some new leaves and has some roots .

What is about the 3rd attempt to bring in the rosemary this year has seemed to work. Perhaps its because this year, the rosemary is much more developed and not just two twigs. I’m watering it sparingly and it seems to be pretty happy where it is. I’ve always had humidity problems with rosemary where it just drowns itself so its near a vent right now, hopefully it’ll help prevent that from happening again.

Upcoming:

  • A lot of TV Binge
  • Holiday marathon announcement

This wraps up this Weekly Adventures!

Black Friday Haul!

Happy Saturday!! Apologies for the late post! Its been a busy day of many errands including putting up the Christmas Tree and decorating.

Black Friday recently just passed. But let’s face it, its more of a weekend event that runs into Cyber Monday nowadays.

Its a perfect time to get a Black Friday Haul post for the weekend. Of course, I’m also very much into online shopping so not a whole lot of this is actually in my possession yet. I probably mentioned in previous haul posts but I’ve been doing an overhaul so buying less books and movies, like physical forms of them and also investing more on games as I’d like to have the content for Game Warp for reviews and such. If you see a huge amount of games, that’s the reason.

Let’s go!

Amazon

  • Resident Evil 7
  • Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Playstation 4 games have gotten so expensive that we always need to wait for sales before we pick them up. These two games are two of the most anticipated for us and they had a pretty great deal, especially Resident Evil 7 being only $20CAD. In the quest to catch up frantically with the 2017 titles, this fits our goals perfectly.

Google Play

  • The Villainess
  • Layton’s Mystery Journey

I’ve been resorting to the Play Store for a lot of more recent rentals as they have like 99 cent rentals every now and again for selected movies. They actually had one for Black Friday and I ended up renting 47 Meters Down. I love shark movies so while there are million other titles I could have picked, its one I’ve been wanting to catch up with. Black Friday also saw some great deals. For games, Layton’s Mystery Journey had a 60% discount. I love the Professor Layton games. I actually own all of them on Nintendo DS and look forward to catching up with the 3DS titles eventually since they seem to be available on mobile also. The latest game is Layton’s Mystery Journey and for those familiar with Nintendo, games tend to be costly so the deal was pretty sweet. To be honest, Play Store might have had some of the more impressive deals this year so I also got a 50% off coupon for a movie and of course, I went for the rare foreign film and got the highly praised The Villainess which I missed at Fantasia because its an opening movie and my pass didn’t grant me entrance so the tickets were sold out super fast as well.

Fanatical

  • Last Day of June

Fanatical is the new name for what used to called Bundle Stars and its honestly a great spot to check for discounted games. They even give out free game deals every once in a while. Its older titles but sometimes, there are some cool stuff. Plus, I don’t say no to free games. They had a pretty neat way for Black Friday called Black Friday Flash Deals which they released discounted titles one per hour and each game had 24 hours to be at that price. Of course, my eyes was on the 2017 indie titles so Last Day of June popped up and also was cheaper than the discount on Steam so I had to pick it up. This game is right up my alley. Its really hard to say no.

Indigo Books

  • Neil Gaiman Box Set
  • Snowflakes & Morning Frost – Poured Glass Candle

The story behind Indigo purchase is actually a little more out of the fact that I went to the actual store to check out their deals and there was so many people and what I wanted ended up being all available online and what I wanted physically there, the buy 2 graphic novels and get the 3rd free, didn’t have the books I was looking for. Plus, they had a better online discount than the actual price for one of them and I know that during the year, that book should drop in price on a sale even more. Being selective, I went home and thought about it and just couldn’t get my mind off the candle which smelled delectable and the fact that I’ve been wanting to check out Neil Gaiman books but never found them at a good price and at $12.50 for 4 books, that’s a pretty awesome deal.

Steam Fall Sale

Steam Fall Sale

Finally, we come to the Steam Fall Sale which wasn’t exactly called a Black Friday sale but was centered in that time frame so I batched it in here. Not a ton of new games per se. Trust me when I say that the deals started on Thursday night (I think) and I mulled over it for 2 nights before finalizing the choices. Some of these titles will be featured games on Game Warp and others are just games I’ll review on my own because I’ve heard about it or the premise interests me.

La Buche

The final thing I got was really just a household thing but since I do share about it, I’ll add it on here. We burn wood during the winter to help lower actual heating costs and we just love it however, ever since we’ve moved it, we discovered these ecological logs which burn longer and better for the environment. The company we finally bought the most time with is La Buche (and we’re not sponsored although I wish we were..haha). Its a pretty sweet deal if you are in the Montreal area and burn firewood in the winter. Thought I’d share that in case anyone was interested.

That’s it for the Black Friday Haul!!

While I didn’t think that there were any spectacular deals, the stuff I got came at a pretty awesome price so I didn’t actually spend that much money overall.
What about you? Did you find any sweet deals on Black Friday?

Mini Black Friday Haul!

Retail therapy probably couldn’t come at a better time, am I right?

With NaNoWriMo being in its final few days (last Friday), there is nothing more than incredible stress going on right now. It is a little crazy that Black Friday sales went on even before. Not so weird for Amazon because its always been Black Friday week but other stores are also doing that. Its a little unbelievable. Or maybe its a statements about the spending power of the society in general. A little too deep for a shopping haul chat? Yeah..maybe.

I do most of my Black Friday (and Boxing Day) sale online when I can, mostly because I fear one day, I’m going to get killed. Luckily, I go on a very relaxed after work event instead of say, the literal doorcrasher crowds and even so, Canada doesn’t seem to go as crazy. Not sure why. Regardless, this year, I had one goal in mind as just one big expense and its why this year is not so much buying smaller items than I usually would. Plus, I’m trying to declutter my house so I have stagnated buying books, have bought very little new physical movies (mostly everything is via Netflix or renting from Play Store) and video games are more through Playstation Store and Steam.

Amazon

wp-1480379752836.jpg

Although first in line here, I’m actually still waiting for one more item from my order to arrive. The first two items came in and its a new card game for party night with friends. I’ve always wanted to try out Exploding Kittens so I’m pretty excited for the next hangout. Compared to previous years, and if you know me, even though I said I wouldn’t get movies this year, I actually ended up getting two movies. There’s this one up there called Hidden that I’ve been wanting to get and waiting for the price to go down. The next is Pitch Perfect 2 which I’m waiting to arrive.

Steam Sale

Steam

Add on an extra purchase of the full version of Geometry Dash and The Black Watchmen: Season 2 and Mother Russia DLC.

geometry-dash-poster tbw-season-2 tbw-mother-russia

Does that mean these will be on Game Warp soon? Not necessarily. Eventually would probably be more like it.  I just haven’t been able to play PC games until recently so I’m taking advantage of that. Plus, I’m by the computer more than having to move down to the Playstation to stream, I sometimes like the recording on PC part of life. I’ve had my eyes on these few games for a while. Plus, they were on the most cost efficient end.

ori-and-the-blind-forest

Right before the Steam sale ended, I decided to cave in and get Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition also. Seeing as I had caved for one, I did think about just getting the close runner-up, Seasons After Fall, which are from the same developers but decided against it. If I had more money, SuperHot might be on there as well. Regardless, I’m happy with these choices and can’t wait to give them a go.

Dynamite Clothing

Dynamite

I’m not sure about everyone else but I have the hardest time to find pants. At this point, most of my pants, especially for work are almost about to just rip apart. It is a serious constant fear I have so whenever there’s a sale, I try to get a pair. The reason for this post going up later is also because I was waiting for the order to arrive and kind of take a picture of it. It fits really well. I wasn’t expecting it to be high waist but I don’t really mind. To fill up the order to get free shipping, I got a discounted candle. Why Dynamite is selling all this funky stuff is above me but hey, it smells pretty awesome!

Google Play

Aside from these games, thanks to a sponsorship from my husband, he also picked up Mad Max and Assassin’s Creed Unity (I think). I believe he also picked up the physical copy of Battlefield 1 which I’m sure I’ll give it a go because I was uber busy when we had the beta and only he got the chance to give it a go and I only looked at the captured footage on Twitch.

The big purchase for this time is a new video/graphics card. I’m not so technical that I know all this. Regardless, I had some awesome friends that helped me out on deciding to get this and seeing if my computer was compatibility and could support it. It’s been a huge restriction on my part, growing in Game Warp, to not also have access to PC games as a lot of cool indie games are first distributed on Steam. It isn’t anything special or like super high class gamer gear but for what I’m doing now, its a good step forward.

Aside from these, it was just some more Christmas decor and batteries for said decorations, which will as usual be in a separate post during Holiday month! That is something to look forward to soon. Shopping and NaNoWriMo wrap-up  along with the general chores is what has been keeping me busy. I am slowly progressing on the holiday decorations.

My Weekly Adventures!

December has been hard to get anything up.  Its really funny because I’m not particularly busy or going out but rather I’m just sitting around binging on series and movies and kind of getting life back to a healthy routine.  Trust me, that takes up a lot of time and then blogging falls behind. I try everyday to get something up and for the most part, its working out. I just wish I could compile these Weekly Adventures because seriously, I’ve had a few interesting things to talk about. I just get tired and lazy…when in doubt, blame the weather so I’m going to do that 😉

Anyways, I haven’t completely been blog-less, I think about stuff for here all the time.

1) TV Binge!

witches of east end

So, I’m done all of the two seasons of Witches of East End and of course, this show is recently announced to be cancelled by Lifetime which really sucks because they ended the second season so strong and at such a good place for this to just kick ass. Maybe it’ll get picked up by another network? I just regret that I didn’t find it earlier. It does get a little frustrating in the second season and plus, there just wasn’t enough of the handsome Killian (played by Daniel diTomasso).

My boyfriend is rolling his eyes as I talk about this…again! Daniel diTomasso gets extra points other than being brooding and handsome for being from Montreal and loving the Habs 🙂 Although Eric Winters is not quite the same, he is quite good-looking as well but in this unknown evil sort of way.

life unexpected

Since I finished this now, I have a bunch of series ending in January on Netflix. I chose the easiest one to finish with only 2 seasons: Life Unexpected. I’m almost done Season 1.  I really love Britt Robertson and wish she would have more stuff.  This show is really fun to watch with lots of funny moments mixed with some drama.

What shows are you watching right now?

2) Black Friday shopping!

I haven’t really gone Black Friday shopping like physically at a store and last year was just stupid deals all over the place.  This year, its a completely different story.  There were some good buys.  Now, for physical purchases, I got these movies.  Along with some Yurbuds earbuds for women which are fantastic because they actually don’t fall out even when I run for the bus.

Aside from that, I ordered Sharknado, A Good Day to Die Hard and Fast and Furious 6 for a pretty awesome price on Amazon.  On Cyber Monday week, there was a one day deal for the complete series (5 seasons) of Flashpoint for $29.99 and that was THE BEST DEAL! 🙂 My boyfriend’s still not in the Sharknado thing but I say he should because its just epically bad but awesome at the same time.  Haha!

Did you do any Black Friday/Cyber Monday shopping?

3) Salon des Metiers d’Art du Quebec (aka arts and crafts fair in Quebec)

I’ve been going to this show for many years. Its a great place for unique gift ideas and as I got older, its a great place to try out new ice ciders/ice wines/food, etc.  We went last weekend to check that out.  Its gotten a lot smaller throughout the years but the food/wine area was still great.

I figured now that a bunch of family is on Facebook, I won’t post up the pictures because then everyone will know their own gifts if they land on my post and that kind of ruins the surprise. But, some very nice finds includes:

I’ve linked up some of the ice wines so you could check it out if you’d like 🙂

4) Day Trip to Plattsburgh!

Last weekend was all about shopping and getting all those gifts covered. After a little bit of discussion, my girl friends and I decided to head to Plattsburgh last Sunday. I didn’t really spend a lot since my day before at Salons des Metiers d’arts was pretty intense totalling at about $200. I ended up spending mostly on groceries and got myself some knee wraps for workout. Target had these awesome Slow Cooker Sauces which I’ve never seen in Canada. Plus, I bought two candles at Bath and Body Works and some car freshener at Yankee Candles.

My goal was to scout to see if Chromecast was cheaper but with the exchange rate, it actually wasn’t. Plus, Canada has a $20 Google Play credit in addition for the same price so I’d say that pretty much seals the deal 😉

Still, I tried out Applebee’s for lunch and that was pretty alright. Here’s what I had:

Double Crunch Shrimp

Applebee’s has a pretty nice atmosphere to it. You know, nice cozy family joint.  Me and one of the girls took the 2 for $25 meal which includes an appetizer to share and each of us a meal.  The Double Crunch Shrimp was a bit oily and heavy but I guess thats to be expected, right? I ended up getting a cup of tea at Starbucks and it helped settle my stomach a little 😉

5) Christmas wreath! 🙂

wreathGenerally, its the same wreath as last year.  I added a few more ornaments to spice it up a little. I’m still figuring out how to use my ribbons to tie a nice bow to finish it up. My girl friends just give me a really good tip on how to do it so I just have to go get some nice ribbons and then it’ll be all good to go 🙂

6) A few blog recaps (in case you missed it)

  • Advanced Screening of Serena (review HERE)
  • 007 Blogathon entries for MovieRob HERE and HERE (click on MovieRob to go to his site and check out other entries)

To wrap it up, lets end with a quote that is absolutely awesome.

I need some of that, well, more of that, to be so masterful.  🙂

This week has been exceptionally long and I actually think weekly adventures will change to biweekly adventures soon. I think I have next year pretty much set with a few projects so expect something going up soon.  Every year I wait till the last 2 weeks and then its all Christmas and New Year’s celebrations so not so much feedback.  I’ll try it earlier this year and hope for more feedback ;).

Happy Thursday, my lovelies!

Its Friday tomorrow! YAY!
