Welcome back to My Weekly Adventures! Can you believe that January is already over? It has been a hectic month behind the scenes but somehow there isn’t a whole lot that did happen. The last week have somewhat been a blur. Work, Chinese New Year preparation and then a lot of little things here and there along with the gradual shift of my normal routine: the beginning of 2017 has been great, but hectic. Not a whole lot to talk about as an adventure but still, there are a few announcements and updates and that sort of thing.
Ultimate 90s Blogathon
If you have seen the post for the announcement, you can find it here.
Drew and I are cohosting another blogathon this year. Last year’s 80s blogathon went so well and we had so much fun that we decided on continuing on with the idea and moving to the 90’s where we spent a lot of our childhood. We’ve gotten a few participants and still looking. We are accepting participants and their reviews to our emails until February 13th and the blogathon will start on February 20th. Any other details you can find in the link above for where to reach us and all that fun stuff.
Valentine’s Day Marathon
Valentine’s Marathon is coming really soon! I usually start in the beginning of February but I’m still wrapping up some TV series and movie reviews so I’ll get it buffered a few days. However, those three movies are only just the start of what I plan on watching. I’m planning on rummaging my unwatched movie collection for romance (comedies or dramas). I’m not all about the happy generic rom-coms, at least I might sneak a few romance dramas in there.
Some other titles I’m considering are:
- Blue Valentine
- English Patient
- Somewhere in Time
- That Awkward Moment
- One Day
It’ll be fun! I promise! If you have any romantic comedies or romance dramas or any romance that you love and would like to recommend to me, go right ahead! 🙂
Chinese New Year Celebration
Chinese New Year is a lot of prep work from cleaning to decorations to welcome in the best spring omens possible. Maybe its superstitious but hey, I kind of like the whole decorating bit as hectic as the hunt for flowers went which I already talked about before. My mom loves making lots of food for Chinese New Year. Five dishes for four people is totally her style and not to mention very delicious dishes as well. My husband however got a pretty intense cold on Friday (aka Chinese New Year Eve) and in consideration for everyone, he stayed home to sleep and rest up. However, it was still a great time.
Workout Update
I’ve fallen off the workout thing for the last week but the week before I did get a arms and abs workout in. It felt fantastic to do an early workout session. Now that the crazy work phase is over. I’m back on track but here’s on of the workouts. You will notice that I did two weeks of Tone It Up workouts. I find them more suitable as a starting point or to restart.
Cute Kitty Pic
Upcoming:
- Valentine’s Marathon
- TV Binge
- Movie & Book reviews (maybe something with a twist)
A quick update on the last two weeks! Not a whole lot happened so we’re keeping it short!
What are you up to? Anything fun and exciting?
I don’t like The English Patient but I will read it if you do anything. That cat pic was super cute

I’m hesitating a little on The English Patient mostly because its super dramatic from what I remember. We’ll see how I feel 😉

I enjoyed The English Patient, but it has been ages since I watched it. The Choice was pretty okay for a Sparks’ film. I’d never say it’s super good, because they rarely are, but I did like it. That Awkward Moment is okay if you don’t think too much about it, and Zac Efron is pretty cute 🙂 hope you enjoy!

The Choice is continuing on my quest to watch all of Nicholas Sparks adaptations. This is the only one left since I don’t watch it when its first released. Everything’s still going to depend on what I feel like watching 🙂

I’m with you on that quest – it is impossible for me to not watch a Nicholas Sparks film, even though I know it will be super cheesy. Cheesy can be fun!

Ooh I can highly recommend Blue Valentine, but only if you have plenty of tissues around! Follow it up with something more fun, like Crazy Stupid Love. You can’t go wrong with a Ryan Gosling double-whammy right?

I don’t mind tissues. I’ll remember to keep a box nearby when I see this! Although I have seen Crazy Stupid Love, it was before I started reviewing movies here so it’ll be good to get a write-up for that as well 🙂
